Re: Antique sterling silver Repousse Cuff Bracelet SIAM or BURMESE with mark???

The writing is indecipherable, but the Buddhist devotee and the Chinthe lion figures lead me to think it's from Burma.

Re: Help identifying a mark I can’t find yet maybe Chinese tea set

That's the "jungin" mark for "pure silver,"
which, in my experience, seems to be used on anything from 90% upwards.
(Comments welcomed on that point.)

"JF"- who is this early 20th C. German maker?

I've gone through all the usual German makers' marks sources, and cannot find who this "JF" maker is.

Any ideas?

Re: ID? Art Nouveau Vanity Jar "Star 572 MI 925"

Thanks for the info!

Further research on this site shows that mark has been used from 1968 onwards, so it's not from the Art Nouveau period, as I had thought it might be.

ID? Art Nouveau Vanity Jar "Star 572 MI 925"

I just got this Art Nouveau Vanity Jar at a yard sale. The mark is extremely small. It contains a star (crisp, thin star outline, not solid), the number "572" and an uppercase "MI". Aslo marked ".925" Any ideas? Thanks https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www....

Polgár Kálmán (PK) - Budapest, Hungary

` Just an update here, with clearer photos, for future reference. I polished the (very small) Hungarian dog head hallmark with the tip of a wooden toothpick to enhance the shine. On the left, a "3", then a dog head, then a "P" on the right. The "3" is for "3rd grad...

unknown hallmarks - European??

Any ideas on these hallmarks? A European country? (The mark on the left is unclear, but it's the best I can do.)

Thanks

Re: unknown mark - 930 silver tea strainer. Europe? US? Mexico? Japan?

Yes, you're right, mine doesn't even try to mimic the repousse work (from the underside). Here's another one that doesn't, described as: "Dutch Cherubs Fused plate Rococo style Silver tea strainer, 1890." But they could be wrong. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000....

Re: unknown mark - 930 silver tea strainer. Europe? US? Mexico? Japan?

Sorry about my linking faux pas. It was only the photos I was interested in showing, of one of many others that are very similar to mine. Here are the images. Identified as "German, 1900." Size and weight the same as mine. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pic...

Re: unknown mark - 930 silver tea strainer. Europe? US? Mexico? Japan?

Thanks, again. Here's one, on this forum no less. http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23714 Also, I've now turned up several others online, with the cherubs, too, and many with the lumpy underside as well. And, I see that silver electrotyping (for the purpose of copying older styles) has b...

Re: unknown mark - 930 silver tea strainer. Europe? US? Mexico? Japan?

Thank you for that. Now I have some leads to investigate further. Also, I'd never heard of electrotyping, but now that I have read about it, it does make sense that the "rococo revival" would use that technique for copying older styles. Plus, that accounts for the appearance of the bottom ...

Re: Need help IDing Hallmark on heavy tray

I can't find the company name, but I did find the exact same marks on another tray, and they are clearly N.S.Co. STERLING MEXICO, with the Knight's head. Hope that helps.

Is this mark Chinese? Korean? or something else?

Is this mark (pic 3) Chinese? Korean? or something else? It's on a 2" perfume bottle that is also marked STERLING. I have also included a crudely drawn approximation of what the symbol looks like to me, sort of. Thanks http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/dogdream/925%20bottle%20007_zpspjngh34...

unknown mark - 930 silver tea strainer. Europe? US? Mexico? Japan?

I've no idea about this one. Picked it up at a yard sale today. It tests as high grade silver, so the 930 sounds right. I'm guessing European, because of the 930, but beyond that ...? (admin edit - see Posting Requirements ) 5.5" long x 4" diam. -- 64 grams The abbreviated maker's mark is,...

unknown mark, similar to German

Any ideas on these marks? Three marks, left to right.: 1. Looks like a "V" inside a pentagram, with a cross on top. 2. 800 3. can't even describe this one. (Not a J and not a crescent.) Thanks! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b96/dogdream/800%20a_zpsybblax8a.jpg http://i17.photobucket.co...
