A dear friend would like to know who produced this dish. The most recent coin is from 1871. Is it the "Münchner Kindl"? Does that still refer to the city or is it, on "modern" silver, used as a makers mark (like T Heiden did). Or is Blachian the maker? Like the in BAS jewelry. If...
I asked Dr Neuwirth herself, as this mark is not in her book.
Today I found a set of 6 spoons. I assume its Vienna, 1761. But who is TJ? https://i.imgur.com/oYvHfNp.jpg https://i.imgur.com/V8wO3KS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/hXH6XDt.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iYcktqH.jpg https://i.imgur.com/evbX9pC.jpg
A dear friend asked me for help with this spoon, but I dont have a clue either. The N is in a shield not in a circle. Is it Nürnberg nevertheless (maybe because of the 13 Lot) or is it Hanau - I have seen a similar mark of Neresheimer - or something else? The shape reminds me of Austrian spoons from...
This was very helpful, thank you a lot! There is a lot of differing information on the internet, which makes it quite frustrating for beginners like me. E.g. here M = 1785 http://hallmarkwiki.com/?ShowHallmark=3628 I have spoons from the 1790s that look very much alike. Was it usual to copy old shap...
Here it says M = 1841 http://925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=18375&p=68232&hilit=Johann+Adolph+Kahle#p68232 Here it says M = 1786 http://silberpunze.freehost.ag/index.php I cant find the vital statistics of the maker (Johann Adolph Kahle). So which one is it? http://i.imgur.com/A...
The maker is E.G. Webster & Son from Brooklyn/NY. On american silver you would expect the word "Sterling". As there is just the makers mark, that's an indication of a plated piece. It is copper, with a thin, worn coat of silver on it. Decorative, nevertheless.
This spoon has the Hamburg-hallmark, year "E", and the maker's mark "Haegermann". There is a weird discolouration along one rim of the handle. Is it a plated piece? Or was the Hamburg-hallmark only used for the 12 lot items?
:) The spoons are from different years, so I posted several versions of the town- and maker's mark, but they got deleted. This mark was one of them. Thank you for the additional information, this was very helpful.
Yesterday I found 6 spoons at a fleamarket in Austria. Can you help me narrow down their origin? 1.) http://i.imgur.com/BU9gGwC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nPpTw0e.jpg engraved 1787 (admin edit - only one item per topic - please start new threads with your other items - see Posting Requirements )
