Re: Austria, 1867-1872 "extra mark"

What can I reply? Thank you! I've started collecting silver only recently. So my focus was on the pieces as physical objects. But the more I look at them/use them, the more I'd like to know about them. It's so delightful to find people that not just share that interest, but are willing to share thei...

Re: Austria, 1867-1872 "extra mark"

What a difference! So only half of the marks were continued after the first few Diana-years.
Thank you! Thomas

Austria (Graz) 1849: maker's or seller's mark?

I am not sure about a mark on a set of tea spoons. The Austrian hallmark says "13 lot, Graz, 1849". I am not sure about the other hallmark ("Bacher" or "Backer"). Is it the maker's mark, or the name of the seller? There are not further marks. http://i.imgur.com/oyqQqiA....

Re: Austria, 1867-1872 "extra mark"

Dear Krisztián,

thank you so much! Your lines are highly interesting.

Between 1867 and 1872 - were the same letters used by the assay offices as after 1872?
Like: A = Vienna, B = Linz, C = Praque, ...

Many thanks! The more i know about my stuff, the more i like it.

Austria, 1867-1872 "extra mark"

Dear hunters and gatherers, I have a set of spoons - Austria, 1867-1872 - the time in which the Diana-hallmark does not imply the town identification letter. Between the Diana and the makers mark there is another stamp, that reads like "P". Is that "P" an early town mark e.g. for...
