Opinions on these pieces please. They are silver plate, Victorian dating to around 1870. Initial thoughts were jewellery holders but as they came as a pair I'm leaning towards mantle decorations. Thanks. http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/203/hwa4.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/845/jtrm.jpg ht...
Just bought this small bowl and looking for information on the mark. 925 silver I know but it's the maker I'm after, it is possible that a letter has been rubbed away at the start of the mark. thanks http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/15/l092.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/thumb/31/zpwh.JPG
I'm going Norwegian due to the Oslo on the front lol, also came in a box bearing the logo Gullsmed Kolbjoymo, Carl Bernards Pl, Oslo. Most of the listings on auction site with similar spoons are listing them as Silver so still confused.
Trev any idea about the crown mark? I'm assuming it's a makers mark but so far not found any other examples although the pattern is the same as Theodore Olsen's Panser.
thanks Trev, seems like a good line of enquiry to pursue. I bought it along with a piece that was made by W Dunningham & Co of Aberdeen so could well be one of the lesser known Glaswegian smiths.
