Re: Albert Henry Jephcott

Yes, thank you very much. Also a bronze piece in the 1906 Exhibition. I have a feeling the later silver which is occasionally seen, c 1945, may be made by the son, who is “invisible”. I also think there must be a photo of their shop somewhere!!!

Albert Henry Jephcott

I am researching A H Jephcott & Sons, a Leicester jeweller / silversmith founded by Albert Henry Jephcott in c 1920 with AHJ & S mark. In 1937 AHJ mark was registered. See images. They had links to Dryad and Leicester School of Arts, including post 1945. Any information gratefully received. ...

Thank you. Unfortunately Goldsmiths Hall won’t repease sponsors names registered after 1974 due to the Data Protection Act. (Or something similar).

Re: Unidentified Swedish mark

I will answer my own question - please comment. I think the crowned M is the “logo” of MGAB and probably indicates they had a Royal Warrant (or Swedish equivalent). The M in GMAB is very similar typeface to the Crowned M, and reminds me of the (Danish) Anton Michelsen logo when they gained their roy...

Unidentified Swedish mark

Hi I was hoping someone could help identify the top left hand assay mark of the M with crown in an oval? All the other marks are clear to me - this is from a small swedish quaich type bowl made in 1954 by MGAB, from Upsala. 800 standard. But what is the M mark!!? Thank you. Anthony https://i.ibb.co/...

Re: London 1935 unclear mark

Brilliant thank you very much - even if an unexpected and slightly disappointing outcome! Totally unlike their normal work, I wonder if it was for an exhibition. Regards. Anthony

London 1935 unclear mark

Hi, can anyone identify / guess at this slightly rubbed makers mark. It is on a very unusual 1935 London silver and enamel bowl. Thank you Anthony https://i.ibb.co/16fxrKn/C2-D5-D5-C4-D4-EC-4545-9900-FCCA46-B046-AB.jpg https://i.ibb.co/gFwnrK5/BFB7-CC42-4-BAF-42-E4-A4-BB-5337782081-BA.jpg

The mark is that of Arabella Stuart, registered in 1974 but I have been able to find nothing else about her.

Re: Christopher Dresser Design? Silver Coffee/Hot Water Pot

Hi, belatedly seen your post. Given that is in the 1890’s and for Heath and Middleton there is every chance it is Dresser but there seem to be no records to prove that. As an attribution many Dresser collectors would not accept it.

Re: Identify maker "OSCH" on Czech deco candlesticks

I have made some progress on identifying the OSCH mark. According to the Museum of Decorative Arts (Prague) “OS” was used by the important (around eight) Czech Applied Art vocational schools, equivalent to the UK’s “School of Arts”. These were held in such esteem the Studio featured them in a large ...

Arts crafts dolphin makers mark?

Hi, I have acquired a small chalice or cup. Its not assayed but is, I am pretty sure, British arts and crafts c 1900-30. Very much like an Artificers Guild piece or many of its equivalent Schools/Guilds of the period. As is quite common, it is not assayed. However, very uncommonly, it has what I am ...
