Re: Identification Help - Goblet/Wine Glass

Hi and welcome to the forum. You are right - it is way off! This is a piece of American electroplate by Corbell & Co of Scottsdale, Arizona. See https://www.925-1000.com/silverplate__Init_C.html. As it is electroplate it is impossible to identify its date with any accuracy - late 20th century is...

I agree with Trev's analysis of this mark. The lion passant and duty mark look particularly suspect to me.

Re: Silver Gold Jade Ring. Unknown modern maker

It looks more like 2013 to me. Interesting that it seems to have both a sterling silver hallmark and an 18 carat gold hallmark. I haven't seen that before. Sorry, I don't know what the last mark is. Neither can I identify TR.

You were right with 1895 so I didn't think to mention it.

Re: Thomas William Dee BATON

No, this is Thomas William Daniels, who registered a series of marks between 1883 and 1912. There is also a very similar mark for Thomas William Dobson registered on 22 March 1886 but which is noted as "defaced" on 1 April 1886, presumably when the Assay Office realised that it was the sam...

Re: ESPN - Atkin Sheffield?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

This is an American electroplate mark of E G Webster & Son of Brooklyn, NY. See https://www.925-1000.com/silverplate_W2.html. Interestingly the jug is in the form of a traditional cream jug from the British Channel Islands, Guernsey or Jersey.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

These marks are not particularly rare. They are an electroplate mark of Atkins Brothers of Sheffield.

Re: date mark and origin

Hi and welcome to the forum. You have identified the marks correctly - and T&Co is Tiffany's registered sponsor's mark. I suspect that the flask may have been intended for sale in the USA as the word "sterling" is not often seen on British silver. The number 5 is a mystery to me too; i...

Re: Unidentified silver bowl

Yes, it's a Sheffield hallmark with the date letter "c" for the 1895/96 assay year. The first mark is the maker's mark; unfortunately it has been damaged by wear and polish and there is not enough left for me to identify it.

The manufacturer was J Collyer & Co Ltd of Birmingham. It probably dates to the early 20th century.

Re: Please identify the silver (?) marks on this Pepperette

I think the maker's mark (slightly distorted) is that of George Greenhill Jones: https://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/London/IO-GeorgeGreenhillJones.jpg Makers' marks of that period on Britannia standard silver were the first 2 letters of the maker's surname but I and J were interchangeable.

Re: Please identify the silver (?) marks on this Pepperette

Yes, this is silver. It is Britannia standard silver (958 as opposed to sterling 925). The seated woman is the figure of Britannia and the Griffin is actually the leopard's head erased symbol of the London Assay Office used for Britannia standard silver. The date letter "I" is 1724/25. The...

Re: Maker’s mark and date mark

GK & CK is Gordon & Christopher Kitney, Kitney & Co. Frames were a speciality of the company. The image of the date letter is not as clear as it might be but I read it as R for 1991.
