Thank you very much. I have trouble with sponsers marks. Especially when the lion rampant is not in regular shaped marks, not round. Thank you again.

Re: Dutch or German piano snuff box?

Thank you oel. Probaly German silver Alloy. It was highly oxidized like 800 silver. The swan does not look like J. Kurz or Scleissners Hanau marks. The N looks similar to Gebruder Gutgesells however he does not show swan mark. I will try to research further or someone else may know maker.

Would this be Dutch maybe Jan Van Geelen 1785 or is it German. Doesn't seem like Hanau Silver. Any info would be great.

British, Austrian, French etc. export marks have been a life saver for unmarked or unknown marked silver/gold.

German Hanau silver marked snuff box like the Crown L items in resource section however has bird head instead of Crown L. Like to keep examples of cross over Hanau marks for reference never know when may be lucky to find more items marked as such. http://i58.tinypic.com/1z2zlus.jpg http://i59.tinypi...

Re: Hanau 800 HFH help?

Hello Trev,
Here is another shot of hallmark. It looks like a chevron in a circle, 800, then HF over H in an open end triangle. I am in the process of cleaning several pieces we have found last week.

Re: info on date or maker?

Also on the first one I am looking for additional hallmarks and cleaning out grey snuff from interior. This stuff is like concrete. I noticed a site previously posting Zilver.NL. They are showing 2 boxes with only the crosses and letter mark. May there have been a different set of stamps for items l...

Also gold washed interior and chatelaine. Most o...
