I do not think it is a salt cellar but how big is it please...if, as it looks, it is about 4"" across it is a bon-bon dish. Salt cellars were generally not made on pedestals as salt at one time was a precious commodity and would need not to be spilt. In 1934-5...salt was less precious but was normal...

Gold and silver watches were imported to various areas of the UK and would have been assayed at the nearest office to the importer so it is quite concievable that the makers(who are possibly Swiss) had their items assayed at many UK offices .

What you seem to have presented us with is a series of riddles which would be difficult to solve. Could you please either post photos of the items and marks or just describe the marks exactly as they are on the item without all the references to other similar ones. It may just simplify things. Best ...

If I am seeing them correctly, the handles have a 'crown' a lion and the queens head (Victoria)...this would make it Sheffield silver but there should be another box with just a single letter in it...if so please show pic so that we can date it for you. CN is the maker and I don't have a clue who th...

Yes the marks are a little difficult to read but if they are as described:- What would look like a shield but is a leopards head in a box. A lion with front paw raised in box, An italic 'n' in a box and queen victorias head in a box, then the spoon is certainly solid silver from London and probably ...

The reason for the lack of information online is that a book "Charles Horner of Halifax" has been on the market for some years and has copyright on his life and works. The book retails at around £40 and I am sure someone is making a fortune from it. Best wishes, MIke.

My first instinct was to attribute to France because of the style of it but the mark threw me. Many handles of this style were made in France in the late 18th early 19th centuries. But quite a few were also reproduced at the end of the 19th early 20th c's. I would suggest you get it acid tested at a...
