Re: Wulsten, Raths, R mark on possible Danzig captains spoon

Thank you again Scotrab for the in depth information on that spoon. I like spoons that tell you someting, even an old worn silver tea spoon telling you how many times it has been used over its life. I wish I had known 2 years ago what I know now about captain's spoons because I think it would still ...

Re: JB sole mark on mustard spoon

Thanks for replying Mike. Particularly in suggesting my thinking could be correct rgarding the maker. Perhaps you have got to think you will not always find all the marks you expect on some silver items , even one only around 100 years old.

JB sole mark on mustard spoon

Hello. I would like to know if any one could give me speculations regarding my “J.B” marked possible small mustard spoon. The spoon is about 6 centimetres long and a composite picture should be below. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-RFOnvleId1s/UYQ1jH7VqNI/AAAAAAAAAHI/jeEfbdaQx1M/w688-h306-p-o/Mi...

Re: Help to ID Danish makers mark please ....

Took some photos of my spoon. Ignored the Copenhagan mark as it was not next to the other marks. I think the stylised intertwined mark may be like on your spoon. I think this is the mark for “W. & S. Sorensen Horsens”. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-oi67PvM79ns/UXhSCx0xSrI/AAAAAAAAAG0/03eBK5...

Re: Double HD mark on German/Prussian Captains spoon.

Thank you Scotrab and Theoderich for the in depth comments and photos relating to my Captain’s spoon. I am very pleased that I was correct in some of my thoughts. I still wonder why this particular spoon had been double marked with Carl Heinrich Dengel’s “HD” mark. Is this common?
Thanks

Re: Help to ID Danish makers mark please ....

Hello I don’t know if you have found any answers for your query yet but I can offer some ideas. I myself just bought my first Danish spoon and had to do a bit of research to identify the marks. I looked at your images and although the marks are a bit small the spoon does have some similarities to th...

Wulsten, Raths, R mark on possible Danzig captains spoon.

I formally owned a probable Danzig made “serving size” spoon and hopefully below is a composite picture of the marks, the spoon, and maybe some of the history of the spoon. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ntmzHtn7SSA/UVnZl-gJvcI/AAAAAAAAAGg/9p2gEjUsV3s/w911-h473-p-o/HEIN+SPN+COMP.jpg Before I sol...

Re: TG(orTC) PSUEDO/FALSE HALLMARKS

Hello Thank you Dognose for your reply and comments particularly about the manufacture of plate spoons. It is difficult however to realise that there often seems more knowledge about 18th century silversmiths than 19th and 20th century silverplaters. I have, probably like other collectors, other mar...

Double HD mark on German/Prussian Captains spoon.

Hello. I just thought I would jump “ship” from one forum topic I knew little about to another one I knew even less about. I have a “serving size” spoon with a possible 12 loth mark on. Hopefully below there is a composite picture of the marks, the spoon and maybe some history of the spoon. My assump...

Re: Hawksley Makin mark

Hello, thanks for your welcome and your comments. Thinking about your observation on the crown mark made me consider perhaps my view was wrong. I assumed my spoon was newer than the marks I had previously seen attributed to George Hawksley. It may be possible that I have a spoon from before the 1866...

TG(orTC) PSUEDO/FALSE HALLMARKS

Hello. Up till now I always thought “William Page” electroplating had been king of the false hallmark but please view my attached picture and let me know where that “crown” needs to be passed on to. I have not been able to match up the marks on this sugar scoop type of spoon by searching the “net”. ...

Hawksley Makin mark

Hello this is my first posting though I’ve made good use of silver 925-1000 before. Hopefully, uploaded, is a set of marks that are on an electroplated fiddle pattern teaspoon that I am only able to guess at a maker for. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/--ZCr6YApmjc/UTjr-8tnxvI/AAAAAAAAADw/S52uAYbj...
