Re: Salad Forks “Empress Sterling — Lady Edith”

Hi Salmoned, Thanks for your response and the effort and time you take to investigate. It is tested for silver. I had in my mind that it could be a speudo-hallmark, but that's impossible with the name "Sterling". This should ever have been registered. Thank you again, but the truth will ev...

Re: Salad Forks “Empress Sterling — Lady Edith”

Fortunately at least it was not such a stupid question. America is a fraction bigger than the Netherlands, it will be the problem. ;)) It’s strange that only sites like "Replacements.Ltd and eBay" were there the only reference point. Thanks for your response, and I’m waiting patiently, so ...

Re: Salad Forks “Empress Sterling — Lady Edith”

[Hi Cheryl

That's not the answer what I meant.
I've never heard of 'Empress Sterling `
There are no indications on this site or elsewhere
Because I live on the other side of the ocean, you get such stupid questions ;)))
So it's American silver, and any idea how old?

Salad Forks “Empress Sterling — Lady Edith”

Normally the Hallmarks are impressed, but here are the Hallmarks (Font) out of the pattern. That's why I have my doubts. I can not find any reference of authenticity. Perhaps I'm wrong Best regards Dendriet http://imageshack.us/a/img96/9648/vp29.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img706/7976/igjt.jpg

Re: German " Fleischgabel " - Maker's mark unknown

Hi Trev,

Indeed, that must be him.
BTW the size must be 26 cm instead of 16,5 cm
I think he's between 1884 - 1920 (gilded)
Thanks for the information

Re: German Silver Spoons

Hi Bahner

Short and strong, that's what I like. ;)
I was not sure, because without initials it could be from someone else
Now I'm for sure.
Thanks for the effort

Re: tea strainer, possibly Dutch but can't identify the mark

Hi Nbhatt,

The Master's Mark is upside down.
There is <.HH.> 90 (Herbert Hooijkaas - Schoonhoven)
Unfortunately, this is silver plated, but beautiful.
He used this Master's Mark also in silver

I wonder if this is also Körner & Proll ? The Maker's Mark seems different but has also similarities. The attached photo is from this site. Thanks in advance Dendriet http://imageshack.us/a/img823/9207/96jl.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img5/9770/4uu8.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img96/6451/q5ce.jpg...

Hi Oel

Go back to your BQ ? No thanks, I can not see or smell the BQ anymore
I just go on to something liquid, so I can further cooling.
Thanks a lot for the information, I hope I have not been too difficult.
Tomorrow I will see it all more clearly. ;))
I am a happy man

Re: Rat-tail spoon - Maker’s Mark unknown

HI Oel

Okay a point for you, I was blinded by the text and expected the city mark of the crowned letter N.
Stay cool, I can use it after this hot day.
It’s better to wait for the photos when you have access to your library :))

Best regards

Re: Rat-tail spoon - Maker’s Mark unknown

In my opinion they used only the crowned letter N, or...... the double-headed eagle.
A crowned letter K for Nijmegen seems a bit weird to me

Here is an example

Re: Rat-tail spoon - Maker’s Mark unknown

Nijmegen The name is derived from the Latin term "Novio-magus" meaning.'new market'
Therefore I don't understand the crowned letter K (in "Van Voet")

Re: Rat-tail spoon - Maker’s Mark unknown

Hi Oel A double-headed eagle was never ever placed. The Hallmarks which are placed in the spoon, are fresh as ever placed. "Van Voet" writes down that from the early 18th century (voor grote keur) a crowned N adds, but that does not mean he was placed next to a double-headed eagle. In my v...
