Re: Unknown maker from Riga

Hi Qrt.S!
Thanks for your reply. But Janis Betiņš was born in 1874 and did not start his activity that year. In 1891 he was only 17 years old...
V.Vilite mentions Johann Joachim Heinrich Bonatz from Saldus (No. 972) who was known in 1870-1898. Maybe JB it's him...

Re: Help identifying maker

Hello!

Maker's mark is ITB = Johann Thomas Berg from St. Petersburg. He was known at the end of the 19th century.

Re: Help with origin of nice milk jug

It's clear. Can we assume that the default fineness is 12 lots?

Hi Theoderich!
Thank you for your opinion! One more question: for what reasons are there no fineness and city marks?

Re: Help with origin of nice milk jug

Hi silverfan!
Thanks for the quick response!
I've seen the Luedemann's marks - unfortunately they don't look like the mark on the milk jug.

Help with origin of nice milk jug

Hello! Recently I bought very nice antique milk jug and would like to find out its origin. This is silver (checked by jeweler) but there are no hallmarks. There are only the maker's mark (IHL or JHL) and an inconspicuous dedicatory inscription in German: “Aus Liebe von Johann Bauser 1848”. I will be...

Re: Pair of sugar tongs - silver-gilded nielloed

Assayer Mikhail Karpinsky worked in Moscow in 1800-1824. Since 1825 he worked in St.Petersburg. Hence the year on the hallmark is 1820.

Milk jug - is it from Austro-Hungary?

Hello! I guess this milk jug is from Austro-Hungary early 1800s but I don't sure. What means J.W.? Is it makers mark or town mark? I would be grateful for any help. http://images.vfl.ru/ii/1626885579/23ae3f58/35235320_m.jpg http://images.vfl.ru/ii/1626886224/8489da86/35235453_m.jpg
