Re: Fancy Spoon With Deep Bowl.

Hi Trev, Thanks for that! You encouraged me to give the marks a deeper clean and the AR you mentioned is very clear now. The three numbers before the AR are most likely 937, although second-guessing this they could be any of these others : 987 or 337 or 387. Below this in the oval cartouche I now be...

Fancy Spoon With Deep Bowl.

Hello, I'm hoping someone could help with the identification of the spoon described below. I'm posting in the continental silver / unknown country forum as I am finding it difficult to assess much about the spoon. In my view it could be Dutch, German, or French and either silver or silver-plate and ...

Re: Is This Item Masonic?

Hi, Just an update with my research. With the St. John lead provided I have unearthed what the the item actually is! Indeed the chain has associations with the St. John Ambulance Service : "...these ' labels ' were awarded by the St John (not John's) Ambulance Association to civilian and unifor...

Re: Is This Item Masonic?

Hi Trev,

Thanks, yes the St. John's Ambulance reference seems to fit more than the masonic one. I'll do some more research in this direction and maybe get back with any results.

Is This Item Masonic?

Hello, I've just acquired a very unusual chain and my research and observations appear below. Does anyone have a view on what the actual object is? For some reason it also doesn't appear to me to be complete, as if the lowest bar has medallions hanging from it, why not all the other bars? The item i...

A Spoon From The Netherlands

Hello, I'm sure I've seen this silverplate mark on here somewhere but I can't find it anymore! The mark could be a bugle, a rams horn, a trumpet or such similar musical instrument. The town is VUGHT RAADHUIS, which I believe to me Vught townhall? I would be ever so appreciative if some one tell me w...

Re: Is This Spoon Silver Or Plate? + Registered Design Numbe

Hi Larkfield, Thanks for the quick answer. I'm still confused as to the registry mark and what it means. Okay, the number on my spoon is within the group of numbers for the year 1936 but I was hoping to find my particular number and any details associated with it, eg. the details of the registered d...

Thankyou for the info Oel. I was getting excited in relation to the mark '12.' which I thought meant 12 Lot!

? Put-Together-Spoon

Hello, I was hoping maybe anyone could confirm or not what I have written about this spoon I've just acquired ( please see below ). Possibly a christening spoon which has GALUS dot-engraved in the centre of the bowl ( ? GALUS is the name of someone/the infant ). On one side of the inner bowl there i...

Mystery Chain

Hello, I've had this heavy silver chain - possibly a fob watch chain but it is only about seven inches in length - for some time but it has always puzzled me. The marks lead me to believe it is from Exeter and the date letter 'd' is for 1820. However the item doesn't have that old feel about it and ...

Unknown Marks

Hello, I've just acquired a lovely spoon and I've searched the pictures on the website but I can't find the marks shown on the spoon ( please see below the links to the pictures ). As I don't know the country of origin I've posted in the European Other Countries sub-forum. http://i1262.photobucket.c...

.925-1000.com Website Confusion

Hello, I navigate to this page http://www.925-1000.com/enyc_Overview.html and then want to access the pictures which are stated as having taken 10 years to compile. The suggestion is to use the " green menu bar at the top of the screen " but I don't see this menu bar and I can't get to thi...
