Re: Help Russian marks cigarette case

Enamel gets easily damaged. It can be totally removed with possible new painting (not only ``painting`` but firing). Could not resist mentioning: 1. There are more different sizes of Russian cigarette cases than shown in drawings submitted. 2. Data on ``unknown maker`` are so scarce, even his name i...

Re: Match case by Georg Jensen, designed by Harald Nielsen

Georg Jensen silver is being made outside Denmark, at least some I have seen. There is no doubt about it.And fully hallmarked with ``dotted oval`` and ``sterling S silver`` even with Henning Koppel ``HK`` initials. Not fakes - legally made outside Denmark. Just wanted to warn - if there is no ``Sterli...

Re: Elisabeth 'Ibi' Trier Mørch for Anton Michelsen,Copenhag

I was thinking of that, too.Filtered cigarettes would not fit in.Two depressions(lid and bottom)make it even shallower. But it was made in the fifties last century. I have seen the same box with engraved leaf decor;this one has only a snowflake engraved. By the way,she designed Christmas spoon 1947 fo...

If not sugar thongs, a wide variety of food may be picked up with this; I doubt it was made for a single purpose.

Re: Please help me about this ring

It is 19th century and whoever takes an item to the assay office for testing will have this mark struck,at least in many countries.
Just do not try any repairs on it (soldering e.g)because rose-cut diamonds will pop out if heated. The backing may tarnish but leave it.

Re: Gold Dunhill Cigarette case

Cannot understand Dunhill made this of 9 carat gold. Was taxation for 585 much higher? Yes, 9 carat is stronger than gold alloys of 14 and 18 carats, but not that much.Nine carats is just a waste of gold.Jewelers seldom buy it as scrap gold.

Re: Can anyone confirm this is or is not gold?

The mark does not much help - if gold, it should have at least some purity standard.Buy gold and silver testing kit (the stone included). It can be found at only $15-20.You may need it for testing items.

Re: wedding or baptism spoon- town mark and maker?

Apostle spoon - very collectable and very expensive. Something is wrong here;faceted handles and fig-shaped bowls were generally made from one piece of silver. There is clear soldering between the handle and the bowl. Reconsider the price paid for this spoon and compare with prices elsewhere;sellers...

Re: Very unusual Patch-Work-Pattern Cigarette Case

Hello again, Very important fact regarding the period the case was made;it is too small for filter cigarettes, meaning it must have been made much earlier. most probably before WW II or shortly after it.It makes sense, right? Who would make a cigarette case that would not fit most of modern cigarette...

Thanks a lot! I was thinking of ``GG`` but the second letter is different. We stay in touch;I will post a 13 loth mark with OB - I think it should be Obuda.I am aware Budapest coat of arms consists of Pest one tower and Buda three towers.Do you have any information of Buda guild mark?
