Re: Silver violin who is the producer

Fedor Ruch worked in St Petersburg.PL marks №№ 1429, 1430. As I said your marks are faked, most likely on existing item to make it lucrative and ruined it. Ruch Fedor Andreevich ,owner of workshop in St Petersburg, worked for Faberge 1888-1908, in 1899 was recorded to have presented gold products to ...

Re: Silver violin who is the producer

There is a hinge - is it a box (pill box,snuffbox) ?
Looks well made, possibly authentic unmarked and then ‚‚Russified‚‚ with faked marks, or overstruck.Anyway, marks have nothing to do with Imperial Russia (unsuccessful attempt for Moscow).

Hi, I think I have solved the mystery based on geographical location of Vreden. Theo was right about the engraved inscription Vreden being authentic, the rest must be a marriage. Look at the map;Vreden is in Germany but what is the closest town ? Zwolle in Netherlands. What was the mark of Zwolle ? ...

If M.S in this form of the mark, then it matches Mathias Skyytianen who was born in Finland and worked in St Petersburg at the time.

Re: Silver beaker unknown markers

Hi,
First of all, check if it is solid silver or silverplate.
This yellow band (red arrow) is very suspicious of base metal.
Clean it and see what happens with yellow streak.

The chalice would have to be examined by a specialist. Fully agree. The problem is how the chalice emerged in Warsaw,1000 km east of Vreden after 325 years in this condition; long time ago I gave up believing in miracles, great finds in garage sales and thrift shops, dealers outsmarted by amateur col...

Re: Help with identification of coffee pot

Hi,
Hose_dk is right.
Besides,it cannot be 13 LOT in Danish.
(1 MARK består af 16 LOD.)
There are more issues, too; pristine condition (e.g.handle !) after supposedly 300 years, the style of silver etc.

Hi,
You are right about the maker PERUGGIA & C.
It is solid silver .800, not silver plated.
Sometimes the bottom of silver items is polished like this with circular buffing tool.
