Re: Silver cup

That`s what call unsolved mystery; Russian inscription on a beaker with Amsterdam marks, foot added later, and not even well done, either.
There is nothing to help us to solve the mystery.

Re: Is it likely this is unmarked Georg Jensen or just a copy?

Hi,
Dove brooch was designed by Kristian Mohl-Hansen in 1910; meaning one can find various marks for 123 design number (older GJ in a rectangle, or later dotted oval) but always fully marked. It was widely reproduced as bird brooch.

Re: Silver cup

Hi, Not authentic. The foot was soldered at later date. Marks seem to be struck on the cup itself, which is difficult to explain; inscription in Russian with Amsterdam marks. Four issues betraying it`s not authentic: 1.Asymmetry of the cup (flat, low position on the foot). 2.Poorly cut circumference o...

Hi, If you want to be sure, file deep enough where it cannot be seen; do not make a notch but file horizontally, you need a field at least 0.5 X 0.5 cm, then apply acid; if it turns deep red / it`s sterling. If not, it`s silver plated. After the test you can polish where you filed. Cannot do any har...

Re: need help please to identify this salt

Hi,
Could be solid silver (e.g. Austria) but better close up of the marks is needed (perpendicular view).
The family crest does not belong to the marks.
