Re: Handle of a ladle

Would you ever recognize a lion rampant in a photo of the mark in the middle (above examples)? No, I would never have recognized him precisely because he is NOT a rampant lion, nor a winged dragon. The first time I came across this mark I thought it was a fake, as far as it was different from the d...

Re: Handle of a ladle

Thanks Trev for your authoritative endorsement. I will consider the attribution to be 90% valid In fact, I am always a little perplexed when I have to compare a real mark to a design. The designer always makes an interpretation of the mark he sees and sometimes the interpretations diverge incredibly...

Re: Handle of a ladle

Someone pointed out to me that the coat of arms could belong to a family from the Pesaro area. And indeed there is a silversmith from Pesaro who has a similar mark. https://i.postimg.cc/bD8GMnw4/mestolo-4.jpg Could he be the author? Or my fantasy gallops too much. What do you think? Thanks Amena

Handle of a ladle

On the handle of a ladle there is this engraving.
Image
I assume it is an Italian ladle, although there are no recognizable marks, only the letters AG.
Does anyone have information on this?
Thanks for attention

The godfather's spoons

Re: italian 925 silver rope necklace identify marking

The lack of the maker's mark is explained because the necklace was manufactured to be exported to the USA DECREE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC 30 May 2002, n.150 Regulation containing rules for the application of the legislative decree 22 May 1999, n. 251, on the discipline of fineness and identi...

Re: italian 925 silver rope necklace identify marking

Hi
What do you mean by "the normal 925 and italy stamp" ??
It seems to me a very modern object and should have the legal hallmark, that is a lozenge with a star , the abbreviation of province and number of the manufacturer.
There is ?

Re: Mug with lid unusual mark-Ottoman empire or Persian?!

Hi Dani a very strange coincidence. The mark on your mug looks to me similar to that of a tea container (I suppose) I own, which has been talked about in this post https://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=36175 The decoration is also very similar. Unfortunately the photos were lost. h...

Re: Nasal Insufflator in Shagreen Silver Case Hallmark Identification

Hi
Interesting and mysterious item. I look forward to find out the solution of the mistery.
As for the fixed glass stopper, I got good results with a drop of WD 40 or Svitol.
Best regards

Cleaning with a cloth and silver polish can help.
You should see it shine like the dove.
And while you are at it, clean the Madonna too
Good luck

Re: First silver purchase ever - Antaya Sterling

The crucifix doesn't look quite convincing. It appears to have a silver film worn in several places. If it has no hallmark, it would be good to check.

Now it's all clear.
What I believed the drilled sprinkler is actually the piston knob.
There's no question, it's an enema syringe.

Re: Strange English hallmark on a spoon

I would like to clarify what I said about the XRF machine and their operators. The highest silver standard that was ever used was the Britannia standard, 95.833% by weight silver. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_standards The use of 98% silver alloy for a teaspoon is really very strange, almost...

Re: 18th-century? Silver Syringe Hallmark Identification

If I see well, there is a "repunzierung" mark of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
Someone more informed than me on the subject will be able to go into detail.
In my opinion the syringe is a "Pichkari", used in India for the festival of Holi.

A larger photo of marks would be needed.
Judging by the subject, I would favor Greece.
