Hi, I'm the first to admit that I have no knowledge of militaria, so the symbology of the Luftwaffe is not registering. I see a pair of crossed flintlock muskets with a decorative wreath (laurel? symbol of victory) Had I found this item, I would have taken it to be a shooting trophy of the 1890's. I...

German Hallmarks See - WMF silverplate.

Sure about the date? Looks more like an 1890's object.

Hi,
The most likely candidate is Keystone Silver Inc. of Philadelphia, founded in 1914. Rainwater shows a mark for them with many similarities. They made (or still make) sterling and silverplate holloware. If your piece does not have a sterling mark, silverplate it is.

Ande,
Thanks for sharing your findings. I've seen the mark, but never knew, until now, that it was for Jack.

http://www.925-1000.com/pics/britmarkcoaster.jpg Photo needed a lot of lightening and some contrast. It is London 1799/1800. How's about giving us a verbal description of the maker's mark on the left, looks like it might be RC or BG? The crescent mark is not a crescent, it is a full round cartouche...

Yep, it is a D-A and as far as I have been able to learn (but without exactitude), the scales mark has been used since around 1920. You can see some variations of it here. http://www.925-1000.com/david-andersen_marks.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; D-A is known for using sterling...

Hi Snaffle,
Your pics were lost in the parkyourpic server crash and I only vaguely recall the marks. Lately, I've been working on Norwegian marks and noticed that two makers I've listed use a symbol/letter in a shield. Check ->
Norwegian Makers
Your maker might be one of those listed.

Yes on both, A.F. Towle & Son was absorbed into Rogers, Lunt and Bowlen in the very early 1900's. RL&B would have continued production with their pattern dies.

Eiler & Marloe does fit within your date frame and does use an EM mark. However, since I can't see your mark, I could not tell if them or not.

Hello,
Don't believe it is silverplate, so I've moved it here. The mark you've illustrated is in the form of an 18th century French maker's mark. Are there any other marks on the piece?

Hi All, Found the mark in McGrew's Manufacturers' Marks on American Coin Silver . He has it attributed to Albert Coles of New York City and cites a fruit knife as one of the mark sources. By the style of the pattern, I'd date it to about 1860. Regards, Tom ps. Waylander, valid point, the arm and ham...
