Hi Danial, The marks tell us a great deal! NM stands for Norsk Mønster, meaning the design is copyrighted or protected in Norway. G-balance weight icon-P is the trademark for silverplate registered by Norges Gullsmedforbund of Oslo, the GP stands for Gullsmed Plett (plate). I believe Norges Gullsme...

Hi,
Wondering if the blank disk was die stamped into a decorated lid after it had been hallmarked. It is the only plausible reason I can think of for the distortion.

Hi, A member kindly messaged that he'd once heard mention of a 'North Attleboro Plate Co.' and it might be worth following the thread. A web search garnered nothing, but a search of google books revealed a single sentence in the (Limited View) Jewelers Circular v. 104 - year 1933: "The North At...

American Mystery Mark - N.A.P.Co.

Hi,
I recently picked up what appeared to be an 18th Century French beaker and was surprised to find this mark on the bottom. The quality of the reproduction was excellent and I hope we can identify the maker.
Thanks, Tom

Hi,
Your ring is modern, cast construction made sometime in the past 60 years. The single H mark gives little or no information as to its origins.

Hi,
If the B mark is indeed separate and indicates the town, can anyone identify the town? It looks to me as if the top letters are FC, each in a teardrop shaped cartouche similar to the B, but at different angles.

I've no idea whether this pattern is pre or post-war. However, I have seen a significant number of post-war German manufactured items that have had later additions of wartime insignia and/or monograms. This unpleasant collecting niche has more than its fair share of fakes and forgeries. Regards, Tom

I'm guessing the two righthand marks are import marks of some sort. Does anyone recognize them?

Hi, Stumbled across the identical item, I've included a pics of its only mark from a couple of different angles. It may be badly made and badly stamped 800 mark, but I'm not sure about that. Not absolutely sure that it is a posy holder, if so, it is certainly a different form than I'm used to seeing...

Hi MCB, I've no idea whether it has happened, but it would not surprise me. British expats and foreign office types seem fond of returning from their travels with examples of the local silver.
