Well, I believe that is core of my question: was there a point in the production of this pattern when Towle did not use its hallmark? I know that the hallmark was adopted in the mid-1800's and that the pattern was produced starting in the early 1940's. As for what someone might or might not choose t...

"Towle" spoon w/o hallmark - a fake?

I purchased what was represented as a Towle "Old Master" teaspoon but when I compare it to the others in my collection, I note that it lacks a hallmark. The back reads "TOWLE STERLING PAT." Could this be a fake?
