Re: Can't identify these Lebolt Sterling items

Good morning all, Have also noticed that the bowl appears to have a lip where a grate would be placed for butter perhaps. Just trying to look at the logistics of pre-setting flatware, glasses, show plate, napkins, etc for very formal settings. Nuts would come later towards the end of service with co...

Re: Souvenir Spoon made of 1782 French Coin

Vale, I will have to leave the identification of the marks to other members who are more knowledgable than myself. You can help them out by cleaning the marks only then reshooting them straight on. Use a well chewed wooden toothpick with a small amount of silver polish, that should work well. Good l...

Re: HAWAII SPOON SILVER MARKS

The Kingdom of Hawaii was established in 1795, her last reigning monarch was overthrown on 17 Jan 1893. Your coin dates to the reign of King David Kalakaua (12 Feb 1874 - 20 Jan 1891). Would be very interested in seeing images of your spoons.

Re: Large Coat of Arms

Good day Ben,

Certainly a very impressive object. Would you consider reposting new images of the marks? May I suggest breaking them up into four images then rotate, crop, and enlarge each if possible.

Thank you both for sharing with the group. Was so perplexed needed to have a closer look at the actual makers mark. Here is a link for an ASCAS article "Silver Hallmarks for Paris (1723-1774) that displays an example of the mark described. http://www.ascasonline.org/articolonovem103.html Warren...

Good morning Amy,

That's what I found on Silver Flatware Fashions. Does that satin finish run along the stem as well, hard to tell.

Thank you Oel for the additional input. Even today there are many good technicians out there who are not as capable of marketing their own work properly. The arrange, arrangement works for manufactor, wholesaler, and retailer.

A very fine weekend to all!

Re: Need help with possible Frederick Marquand flatware

Good morning, NY does seem to be a common link between Gardiner and Marquand although I did not check that detail for Brower & Rusher. May, may, be possible that Marquand was retailing his work through as many outlets as possible. Warren ps: was also recently thrown off by a teaspoon with a fidd...

Could not agree with you more AG. Do not own firearms or support hunting in any form unless it's for food. Merely trying to put this object in context.

Interesting, just spotted another example of this pattern marked M.OLSEN 830.S. The only difference being that the one I'm holding has a pattern on both sides. Did you pay more for the decorative element on both sides? http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu197/WarrenKundis/photo1-189.jpg

Thank you so much gentlemen, really appreciate your time and attention. So in this case Pettersen was the retailer of Hans Holhe's work. Let's see what I can find out about Holhe.

A very good day to you

The shape of the bowls and the marks are very interesting. Note how in the last image the two marks overlap each other although difficult to see which one is on top.

That's interesting Trev, there is family of otters that live in the creek about half a mile from the house where I live in Illinois. Amena, the otters, like rabbits and fox may have been considered invasive species and were hunted. Imagine that they otters were going after fish in the streams. Remem...
