Re: Help with identification

Good day,

Right at the moment it's actually upside down. Either Arabic or Farsi. Can you post a second image? There are others who can translate it for you.

Re: German Mark?

Good day,

I believe that the crowned clover mark has not as yet be identified but would it be possible to get a clear close up of what appears to be a word to the left of the mark? May give a further clue.

Now I'm confused, where did this image come from? I'm referring to the second link above.

Re: Help With Mark Please

Good day Theo,

Just looking at the top mark, it does appear to be the crowned SR of Simon Rosenau in Bad Kissingen laying on it's side. The others remind me of two by the Hanau firm of J.D. Schieissner & Sohne. Rosenau and Schieissner had a strong working relationship isn't that correct?

Re: Unidentified Mark on Large Jewelry Box

Hello Gary, A Gothic letter D on it's back was not what I was looking for. Just reviewing a few examples on sterlingsilverflatwarefashions.com/Msc/BaltimoreAssayMks.html shows an oval or rectangular coat of arms with cut corners. You can also see that the order is different, without the use of Gothi...

Re: Unidentified Mark on Large Jewelry Box

Good Day, Very interesting set of marks that on the surface seem to be Psudo marks. The first mark on the left appears to be a Gothic letter P laying on it's back but it's actually the forth mark on the right that intrigues me the most. Believe that we need a clear close up shot of all four but is i...

Good day SS, I admire your persistence. Would it be possible to get a larger image of the makers mark so that it can be examined thoroughly? Looking at the image available at the online resource American Silversmiths, their example does appear to be very similar. Click on that particular mark to exp...

Paul,

Just to advise that your links are not accessible. You will get a better response if you embed your images. Many people will not open links.

Would definitely support Oel's assessment. After just reviewing that thread from July 2014 all three makes were also on the large commemorative plaque. See below but let's see what others think. Warren http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=37729&p=102716&hilit=schleissner#p10...

Re: Menorah maker

Good day gentelmen,

Is it possible that it is not two sickle marks but two different marks used by J.D. Schleissner & Sohne? I'm just looking at the shape in the middle of the sickle, or what appears to be a sickle.

Re: arabic mark?

Good day, Not Arabic, Farsi or Persian (Iran) language. The two characters at 9 o'clock are Persian numerals that actually translate as 84, what you also see at 3 o'clock or 870/1000 parts silver. As to the translation of the characters at 1 o'clock and 6, will leave those for others. Hope this help...

Good day Amena,

Hope your enjoying your holidays. Appears to be an Augsburg acorn mark. If I spin my iPad over the makers seems to read as an intertwined SA. See if that works for you.

Re: German Cigarette/Cigarillo case??

Definitely German post 1886 mark but you need to zero in on what appears to be a worn mark to the right of the 800, very faint.
