Trev, Many thanks for the Round advert and all the other examples. I appreciate that Rounds were one of the big names in the plated trade and it is remarkable how much interesting detail is to be found in the contemperary adverts. Hallo Trev, The advert is published in Keith Pinns 1999 publication, "Paktong" on page 73. I wasn't sure about the copyright position in using a copy from the work. There seems to be a number of contenders for the title of "Original Inventor" of the alloy as per the advert and it...

British Plate

The advert for Nash's improved British Plate, with a suggested date of 1835, suggests that "his name is stamped on the spoons, knives,forks and all other articles manufactured by him" Has any one ever seen this mark on any plate or plated wares? Burnisherboy

Are the marks on the tray and the snuffer and would it be possible to post a sharper view of the mark? The symbol does not seem to relate to a registered platers mark although a better reading of the gothic font might help with the maker.
