Re: Russian ashtrays

Hi numis-geneve -
who cares if Goldducats were the most famous/used coins if some persons decided to name their produkt7firm Dukat? You are off topic again, stubborn and unteachable.
Stay with your coins and forget Russian silver and Russian Tobacco!

Re: Russian ashtrays

Hi Dad - Thank you for your explanation to a simple mind. It is a real pleasure to read comments of someone who know what he is talking of and deliver valuable informations instead of talking pure nonsens. http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd334/Postnicov/Bild1-8.jpg Regards Zolotnik

Re: Vesta case

As I said before - there are no other marks. First I thought it was an early object (1740) from Hoppe, Johan Henrik PL# 1717 . But than my brain starts to work: matches were invented arond 1840, successful made safety matches (white phosforus) showed up 1855 (by the Swedish ingenieur John Edward Lun...

Re: Russian ashtrays

Hi numis-geneve - First: wrong spelling, the name is DUKAT not DUCAT! Second: I wrote that the brand DUKAT was the favourit brand of the lastTsar Third: I did not write that the package was from before 1917 (I can read too) Forth: the Sazikov mark from the ashtray http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Vesta case

Negative as always. Try to be happy and enjoy your life! Isn´t it you who always answer the fake posts first? By the way - I did not discuss a fake - I just placed a warning for others. You did not recognice it as a fake - If I had taken you serious ( you are the mega expert - I am only a lowly col...

Russian ashtrays

Hi all - normally in Russia everything is bigger, better and more expensive - exeption ashtrays. They are tiny and very rare - very difficult to find. Most were lost or disappeared otherwise. Here my small collection, collected in over 25 years: The famous Russian Papirosi. half tabacco, half carton...

Re: Vesta case

Hi -
sometimes it is important to warn members like you (with little experience but apparently too much money) and show them why some object is a fake - before the purchase.
You are free to ignore evidence of this type.....

Re: Vesta case

Please note that the letter J was often superseded with I. Thank you very much for this news - always the little head teacher! There are no other marks. I think it is an "upgrade". The belt with buckle is an additional give away - this was never used on authentic objects, not aRussian sty...

Re: Imported Creamer, French?

Why always so negative and in oposition? Everybody can see a rhombus and it looks like the mentioned mark. Better photos are for some people not possible - so there is much room for guessing. The import mark from Riga is clear and correct, There are many examples that via Riga imported silver has th...

Re: Imported Creamer, French?

This mark (bear in lozenge) is often seen on silver imported via Riga to Russia, silver that always is nice and tasteful - no cheap silverplate. The question is who is the maker? Berdorfer who made only silverplate or one of his subsidaries in Luzern , Eßlingen or Milano? Or a firm that is not know...
