Re: Dimitry Alexandrov? Kokoshnik mark confusing

Hi - collectors have a big advantage - they own the discussed material! Please consider (as clearly stated) that Nikitin worked from 1889 until 1917. You can assume that he used more than one punch over the years. Over and about that his style is typical (collectors speak of "fingerprints"...

Re: Dimitry Alexandrov? Kokoshnik mark confusing

Hi klingert - to identify an object you start as follows: looking for the town mark (in your case the Greek letter "Delta" for Moscow). Looking for the assay mark (in your case Kokoschnik looking right for the years 1908-26, silver content 84 Zolotniki = 875/1000). Looking for the maker [Д...

Re: Unknown russian spoon makers mark. Maybe fake?

Hi klingert - most important rule if you want to buy anything: do not trust descriptions, auction houses (even the most reputed) or phantastic stories (....my grandmother was a maid in St. Petersburg Court....), just trust your own knowledge or the experience of trustworthy experts! Do your homework...

Re: Unknown russian spoon makers mark. Maybe fake?

Hi all - I think it is useless to explain why you should not buy objects you do not understand. Buy first and ask later is not very clever.... Here some authentic boxes and firrm logos of Fabergé - the boxes were always made of marple wood - from my collection. The stamps, the quality and the ename...

Re: Interesting find

Hi - this is a fruitless discussion. Either you can not understand or you will not understand. Many little stones of a mosaic became a picture - engravings (right time, right style, dates, meaning, ect.) are an important reference for a certain time period. All historians use them with big success. ...

Re: Interesting find

Hi all - I do not know why new findings are so hard to accept. Many small notes give a new image! Why should one engrave objects with a wrong date to just confuse future generations of collectors? Every day some riddles are solved - if you want! Stay with your opinion but do not expect that others (...

Re: Interesting find

Hi all - in my collection I have several objects dated 1899 with this mark (I just do not have the time to search hundreds of objects) - so it must have been in use in the year 1899 also. PL give a date until 1905.... Spoon 1899 http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd334/Postnicov/KarpinskijMichail02b...

Interesting find

Hi all - found an interesting, rare spoon made by the famous firm W. A. Bolin in Moscow (the mark BOLIN is normally only found on silver items produced in the Moscow workshop). In addition to the signature, most Moscow items are marked by the craftsman. Townmark Moscow 1899-1905, maker KL , Karl Lin...

Re: Unknown assayer from Odessa

Hi ubaranda - I have several objects of this maker ИГ in my collection, assayed by different assay masters in the years from 1880 until 1900 - but there is no IK assayer among them. Both are unknown to me. Sorry. http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd334/Postnicov/Odessa-1.png http://i529.photobuck...

Re: Unknown maker from Vilnius

HI - there is a big confusion in your text, please reread the from you given years: I don't think you will find the maker in Vilnius but in Moscow. Anatoly Artsibashev assayed in Vilnius 1884-1888 and in Moscow 1889 -1898. Error in Postnikov #2125. Unfortunately I have no idea who the maker МП mig...

Re: Cloisonné Enamel spoon by Kuzmichev for Tiffany & co?

Hi numis.geneve - while "cleaning" my storeroom I found among other long forgotten treasures an original [Tyffany & Co] stamp! Now you can compare if they used a) single letters, b) mixed upside down letters or c) a real stamp..... c) real stamp http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd334...

How far will the fakers go in the future?

Hi all - Russian silver is the most faked silver in the world - there are no limits anymore. Either the buyers are more stupid or the counterfeiters are getting careless and bolder.... http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd334/Postnicov/F01-5.jpg http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd334/Postnicov/F02...
