Hello, the S stands for silver, 685 was not uncommon in German in the years ca. 1860-1870. Don't know the maker. Regards, Bahner

Re: WMF patent 90 <18> Garmisch Spoon

Hello, pattern 2200, no name to the design that I am aware of, designed in the 1920s by Albert and Kurt Mayer, father and son and longtime chief designers for the company. Believe that this kind of patent marking was introduced around 1923/24 and used until after 1945. Looks to me like a run of the ...

Re: What is the purpose of markings on brass (?) spoons

Hello, my guess is as good as yours. This type of spoon was not uncommon in Germany either, usually dating from the late 18th to the middle of the 19th century, with some makers even later. I suspect a production around 1830-1850 and wonder if this was not made from white metal / German silver or si...

Re: german silver cup identification

Hello, just a gut feeling really but I would date this to ca. 1820/1830, give or take a decade or two. The style of the cup is too modern to be much older. Believe the 13 to be authentic and the makers and/or city mark just to be badly struck, not overstruck with something else. As to the engraving,...

Re: IAL (Ascribed Julius A. Lemore) Striegau German Silesia

Hello, yes, this is Lemor. The fineness of 70 rather than 12 or 13 Lot was introduced when the metric system was being introduced in Germany since the 1850ies. So I would date this around 1860, give or take. The Striegau city mark rather than the Breslau city mark was used by Lemor, for reasons unkn...

Hello, this is from Berlin. I do not have access to Scheffler right now, so I cannot be more exact. Hello, believe Blachian to be the maker. Heiden also used the Kindl, as other Munich makers did and do, but in combination with his initials. The Kindl is used by modern Munich makers for traditional reasons. Regards, Bahner
