Re: Kriscmer M Silver Bowl - 825 Silver

Hello, Krischer is just the retailer, maker of the bowl were Brothers Wolfers from Brussels, Belgium (the three stars in a triangle is their mark). The Wolfers bros. had been owners of Krischer since 1913 and sold a lot of their products in Germany through that shop. In 1936 they sold Kirscher to je...

Re: Solid/Plated, what country?

Hello, this is German, the anchor is one of the marks used by Gebrueder Noelle from Luedenscheid. DEP can be found on some German pieces of flatware and stands for "Deutsches eingetragenes Patent", very roughly: German registered pattern. Noelle made this in silverplated white metal (rarel...

Re: Necklace silver 835, the definition of the designer and the period of manufacture.

Hello, the Laurin mark was probably introduced a little earlier than 1936, still trying to find out the exact date though. Use of the pictorial mark (Ln ligated in a half circle) was disabandoned at the end of WW II, Laurin as a word was again registered as a trademark for jewellery in 1961 by maker...

Hello, not Otto, dont think A. Otto ever dealt in jewellery. A. Odenwald comes to mind as a maker, he did a lot of jewellery of this kind. He may be the one. Regards, Bahner

Re: Please, help identify silver item. L AMEYER 12

Hello, most likely (a badly punched) Wilhelm Lameyer from Hannover, Germany. Founded in 1844, closed after the premises were destroyed during WW II (1943), not reopenend after the war. 12 would be a fineness of 12 Lot. I would date this to 1860, give or take a decade. Regards, Bahner

Re: Crown 100 ? Silver Mark (Very Crude) on a Spoon

Hello, the crown is most likely the mark of flatware maker Kierdorf from Solingen. 100 is a plate number. See here for a short explanation:

Re: FLATWARE UNKNOWN HALLMARK

Hello, incompletely struck mark of Koch and Bergfeld, Bremen, used on plated items. It is actually a K and a B, joined back to back. The pattern is one of several very popular floral "lily" patterns designed by Hugo Leven for said company around 1900-1902. Regards, Bahner

Re: J BERGER Spoon anybody know the age and style?

Hello, are there any other marks ? Berger is a common name in German speaking countries, so this is going to be difficult. I would date this to around 1900, give or take a few. Not much older. Regards, Bahner

Re: A real mystery...

Hello, have seen complete gold wash on small silver flatware (for fruits) from Germany, 19th century. Just a gut feeling but I would date your pieces to the 19ch century, too. Possibly a little earlier or a little later. Really just a gut feeling. If this turns out to be plate it is most likely an e...

Re: Binder Floreat Candle Pair

Hello, Floreat was used on plated items only, so the 15 is most likley a plate number, not a date letter or a production number. As to the other mark - no idea, possibly added by a retailer etc. Regards, Bahner

Hello, this is a Sandig mark, Spicker was the jeweller / goldsmith / silversmith etc. who sold this. To my knowledge Schoellkopf never made flatware. Regards, Bahner

Re: Fruit Set (.830?) w/ "Uchatius Bronce" blade

Hello, looks like a typical fruitknife made from thin silver foil, the handle being filled with some hard substance to give it strengh. I bet this is German, most likely from Berlin. There were just a handful of makers of flatware like this in Germany. Jandorf from Frankfurt, the others from Berlin....

Re: Please help identify maker's mark on matchbox

Hello, reminds me a lot of modern silver in the antique Durch or Hanau style. I would neither exclude the Netherlands nor Germany as a possibe country of origin. Most likely after1945. Not sure what other marks I am seeing here. Regards, Bahner

Re: Could this be Hanau

Hello, looks indeed like a Hanau piece. The grape might be that of Gebr. Neumann

http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_hanau_marks_01.html

though similar grapes were used by other makers. Hard to tell with only two marks.
