Interesting Antique Silver Pear..Its Purpose??

I thought I would post this interesting item and see what everyone's thoughts were as to what its actual intended use is? As you see its shaped as a pear, It is silver but no marks can be found but it has been engraved with the year 1840. Lid pulls off so one would think its a snuff box or even a tr...

Vesta Case? Oversized With Sliding Striker

It was purchased and described as an Edwardian calling card case but I see this myself as a vesta case for longer than ...

Silver & Enamel Spoon , Russian?? Help Required.

Dutch Tea Strainer, assistance with marks

I wonder if anyone can assist with these marks, I am pretty sure the tea strainer will be of Dutch origin, Main marks located between the top two cherubs heads and another small mark to left side of head. Thanks in advance. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v439/vintagecollector/Caithness/d1.jpg htt...

In my opinion this is the mark of Edwin Millidge. He was known to have produced flatware.

Re: Portuguese Silver Tray..Assistance Required

Many thanks yet again Trevor,

On further close examination the letter {i} may indeed be a second number 1 , so I think its the lower standard silver.

No letter apparent over the boars head.

Any thoughts on items purpose?... Until I hear differantly I will assume it is a table crumb tray.
