Alexander Ritchie -Additional Information Required

A quite gorgeous hallmarked silver & enamel shield shaped brooch, quite unusual , not by the actual design but by the degree of enamel, most of this style were left without enamel work and some has enamel work to the compass points of the brooch, This is the first I myself have seen with such en...

Re: Does Anyone Know its intended Purpose?

Seems everyone is of same opinion that it is not a spout, Maybe images are deciving a little, 'spout' part is dead centre and not off centre.

Seems a very over the top design to simply be a nut dish though? But I will not discount it.

I would discount it being an ashtray, to big and why a handle?

Re: HL Scottish Spoon?

Just found this posting and see it was some time ago so you may have found out else where about it. Not an exact match but interesting as in your mark is somewhat similar to my suggestion as in it has a pellet at top right of mark. I am throwing the name Hugh Lindsay into the hat which may give you ...

Scottish Provincial Fiddle Pattern-Tinkers Marks?

Interesting marks on this spoon, They look like ABD but thats maybe because they came with 3 similar spoons all simply marked WG which is an Aberdeen maker as yet not attributed to anyone. Scottish Fiffle Pattern, Can anyone have a stab at the makers mark? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v439/vint...

Re: Jasper Kelly?? Another Maker not 100% sure of

Further research Trev,

I am now pretty confident it is a masking spoon and 99% sure it will be by John Keith.

Now thats not a bad turn up for the books seen as I managed to get it for £8

Re: Jasper Kelly?? Another Maker not 100% sure of

Hi Trev, again I had attributed to John Keith but again thought I would question my initial thoughts as again refering to Turners book theres no mention of just {IK} as one of his marks. Any idea to the purpose of this spoon?.. Like the Erskine of Aberdeen spoon I thought I would post here to see if...

Re: Salt Spoon..Joseph Emanuel?

Hi Trev, That was my initial thought but did not want to mention Erkine on the board to influence anyones thoughts, I know most of Erskines marks but have never came across it with just a single struck JE. Using Richard Turners book on provincial Scottish theres no entry for this mark but the intere...

Jasper Kelly?? Another Maker not 100% sure of

Interesting spoon which measures 172mm in length. The spoon is only marked with {IK} and no other marks. The closest match I have found is that of Jasper Kelly (1447 Grimwades) but he is entered as a gold worker. Can anyone shine some light on maker and purpose of spoon? http://img.photobucket.com/a...

Salt spoon in very good order only marked with makers mark of {JE}.
