Acquired this large piece recently. I realise that Caldwell & Co are large retailers and sometime manufacturers of sterling silver, however, am slightly puzzled about the crown/letter/lion marks, as I haven't seen any Caldwell silver with these marks previously. Also - any idea what this dish wo...
I replied on the other forum .. "I make the date 1833/4 - so William IV, with the makers mark of William Knight II" Hopefully this is correct Regards John
This is the mark for Nigel Derek Meeks, along with the monarch's head commemorative mark for the 25th anniversary of our Queen's coronation. Regards John
The Anchor would be the town mark for Birmingham. It's very possible that the '2' is a 'Z', Which, with the RPH mark, would be the date letter for 1974/5. RPH being the makers marks for RPH Jewellery Company Ltd. But as Dognose stated, images would confirm it, or not. Just a thought. Regards John
Possibly a Stirrup Cup, which was normally filled with some form alcohlic beverage & offered to a person mounted on horseback who was about to depart for the hunt. Regaards John

Please help with makers mark. It's rather unclear here, but it's the best I can get. I have presumed this is a Dutch Minerva head, with an assay mark of 'P' (unsure which assay area this is from), and an 'n' for 1872? Thanks in advance
