Re: Cloisonne box from 1865

I will consider your advices; for the first, I have lost any desire to buy further russian silver :-) Perhaps it is better to collect further things which I understand better (german silver from 19. and 20. century). In the next week I am on journey, afterwards I want to present here more russian pi...

Dear Oel, dear Postnikov thank you very much for your answers. It is very important for me to get the advice of a expert in russian silver, because I have more of those items. I tried to post a private mail to Postnikov, but I have technical problems, it seems. Can you send me a short PM so I can an...

Re: Russian enamel box with diamonds; genuine?

@ Postnikov Thanks for your answer, which surprises me however. I did not see yet all contributions in this forum, but read nevertheless already much. A such box had not been discussed yet, or? Falsification? So an enamel with diamonds? How do you deduce? It would very helpfully be for me, if you te...

Russian enamel box with diamonds; genuine?

Falsifications of Russian pieces are often to find. Normally they are easy to recognize by the bad quality . The presented box from my collection is of very good quality, better enamel I haven`t seen yet. But nevertheless: The fear remains to have bought an expensive falsification . Therefore my que...

Re: 84 hallmark on cloisonne piece of jewellery

@ QRT.S: thank you very much for your kind answer. This item does not belong to me, I have unfortunately only one picture of the stamp. Perhaps I get still another picture of the whole piece. It is 2 kg heavily and from a very good quality, probably also very old. Nobody would make itself today the ...

84 hallmark on cloisonne piece of jewellery

Hello, on a very nice cloisonne piece of jewellery is a hallmark, that looks like a second kokoshnik mark. But no letter and untypical head (in my opinion). So I think, this is not a russian item. Any ideas about the origin??? Each assistance to clear this mystery would be very welcome. Kind regards...

Re: Drinking cup; Nuremberg or Hanau?

Hello Silverport, Thank you for your friendly words. Very good diagnosis, a gun powder horn, I was wondering why a drinking horn is so small but I had no better idee (and the knowledge). I visit this forum in order to learn. If I have sometimes more questions, that does not mean that I do not believ...

Re: Drinking cup; Nuremberg or Hanau?

Theoderich, thanks for your input.
Why not Nuremberg?.... the N in the circle looks like this (found in Rosenberg).
The drinking cup looks very old, so I don`t think, it is hanau around 1900 (pictures are bad, sorry, took them last night without satisfiing light).
Kind regards

Drinking cup; Nuremberg or Hanau?

Good day, A colleague of me owns a drinking cup from silver and asked me about the age and the origin. I am sure but the N in the circle could mean Nuremberg end of 18. Century. But I do not find in my books the second hallmark (like a face with horn) and also the third mark. Can it be Hanau (pseudo...

Re: Cloisonne box; russian item?

Good Morning to all, thank you very much for your thoughts. The box is around 27 cm x 18 cm with a high of 15 cm, the weight around 1,7 kg. The hallmark is located on the downside of the box and inside of the Cover (the 2 hallmarks looks very similar). There are absolutely no other hallmarks to find...

Cloisonne box; russian item?

Next unknown item of my collection: a big cloisonne box of silver with rubies. The hallmark resembles the russian hallmarks, but there are no further stamps, so I have doubts whether the box originates from Russia.
Any Idees?
Kind regards
Steffen
