Re: unknown russian city mark?

Dear Qrt.S, your thoughs are profound knowledge and logical. Here is a picture of the similar german carafe. I was very much surprised as my wife came back from an ancient market few time ago with nearly the same carafe as my "russian carafe". http://i56.tinypic.com/11ukxfl.jpg Kind regard...

Re: unknown russian city mark?

Hi Qrt.S, the next lesson to learn for me, I bought this item some years ago as "russian" (not cheap :-)) OK, let me see if I have understood: the caraffe was produced in germany, maybe by Bruckmann. Because it was made for export, it has no german hallmarks. I did not know that items for ...

Re: unknown russian city mark?

Hi Zolotnik, very interesting. If I understood you correctly, these pieces were produced in Germany without stamps. Was this permitted? I thought, starting from 1888 had everything in germany to be marked with the silver content. And the next question: where the 84 was marked, in Riga? Because this ...

Re: unknown russian city mark?

Hi Qrt.S,
thanks for your help.

Here is a pic of the hole item

My wife had bought nearly the identical caraffe with german hallmarks (Bruckmann, If I remember) (only the top is different). That irritates me.

Kind regards

Plate 13 lot, unknown marks; 18. Century?

Here is a plate of my collection I bought long time ago. The seller told me, it is german and from 18. century. A Even if the color looks rather like brass, it is silver (tested), probably a very old patina I could not identify the marks, it looks like K.F. a star and 13 with H. http://i56.tinypic.c...

Re: mystery hallmark

Hello,
it looks like pseudo-marks from Hanau/Frankfurt around 1900.
The style of the tea set was liked in germany at this time.

Re: Faberge?

Hi Juke, thank you for our kind answer, you confirm my fears. I took a photo of the mark in small hinged lid. It is very small, I can`t read it, but it is not 88 nor AH nor Faberge. http://www.pic-upload.de/view-8789305/faberge4.jpg.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; After reading h...

Re: CENTERPIECE BY SAZIKOV

Hi Argentum49,

Russian fakes can be nearly as old as the originals ...... even at the beginning of the 20. Century russian silver was falsified already. So if you believe it is old ..... thats no proof.

Another cloisonne spoon, genuine?

Good day to everybody, once again I would like to take the assistance up of the experts here. A friend of me possesses a Russian Cloisonne spoon in his collection. I looked at this item and have doubts about the authenticity. Hallmarks do not look bad (my opinion with not much experience), but which...

Re: Fakes — Discuss or Surpress?

@ Postnikov Thanks for your kind words. Last week I was visited by a goldsmith, to whom I showed the items. He drew my attention to the details of why this work could not possibly be of Faberge. He said Faberge is just perfect. In a book I had not seen these differences. You learn the most experienc...

Re: Fakes — Discuss or Surpress?

For me, this forum is a very good and helpful way to learn how to recognize the fakes. I bought some very expensive "russian" items some month ago, here I heard the first time that those items are fakes (thanks a lot, Postnikov and Qrt.S). After buying those items, I showed them to 3 silve...
