Prague tablespoon 1810-1813

http://j.imagehost.org/t/0741/Prague2.jpg http://h.imagehost.org/t/0999/Prague1.jpg Can someone tell me how I can find out about the maker of this Prague tablespoon? There are three marks on it. The maker's mark is a monogram of script letters, maybe A Br, the quality mark is for 13-lotig silver in...

Unfortunately only the lower half remains, looks to be JR or JK, in a shield. The coin is from ...

Hello Ringo, Thanks for that information. I've looked up pipe cleaners in a book on Dutch silver (Dutch Small Silver 1650-1880, by BWG Wttewaall, ISBN 90 6825 299 2) and he shows on p.258 a practically identical piece, capped with silver. Apparently the silver end was used to tamp down the tobacco. ...

Austrian silver teaspoon, Steyr 1840's

I am looking for the maker of this 13-lotig silver teaspoon, one of a set. Does someone recognise this maker, or know where I can look for it? It is marked with the assay mark for Steyr, a sub-office of Linz, in Upper Austria (G1), sometime in the 1840's.The maker's mark is a monogram of script lett...

Maker's mark VD on French silver napkin ring

This napkin ring has a Minerva head for post-1838 0.800 French silver. The maker's mark in a lozenge looks to be VD with spectacles in between. On the internet I can find reference to Victor Demare or Demirre with a mark: VD avec un binocle. http://h.imagehost.org/t/0890/VD1.jpg http://j.imagehost.o...

JB mark on 1804-1805 William Sumner silver salt spoon

This William Sumner salt spoon was assayed in London in 1804-1805. JB has also been punched onto the handle near the hallmarks. If this is a journeyman's tally mark, then it is unusual in that it is so large, and also it is well away from the maker's mark. If it is a second maker's mark (James Beebe...

Theodor Olsen Norwegian napkin ring?

This silver napkin ring is marked inside with 830 and TO only. I wonder whether it is by Theodor Olsen in Norway. However, this simple TO mark is not on the list of his marks given in Norwegian Makers Marks. http://a.imagehost.org/t/0955/TO1.jpg http://a.imagehost.org/t/0961/TO2.jpg Can anyone help?

Small silver-capped ivory peg, what is it?

This peg is about 7 cm long and made from ivory or bone. It is capped with silver, which is marked with the Netherlands quality mark for 1814-1905. Its style is mid-19th century.
If you have an idea what it was used for, please let me know.

Soviet post-1958 silver sugar spoon

Please can someone help me with the marks on this Soviet silver sugar spoon? I have read some previous postings, and I think it is a 0.916 silver spoon assayed in Tallin Estonia after 1958. The 3ij mark could be a combined factory and date mark, if I understand it correctly, but which factory and wh...

Maker's mark KM (KH?) on Hungarian jugendstil silver fork

Please can someone help me with this maker's mark on a small 0.800 silver fork, assayed in Budapest 1872-1922? The design of the fork is jugendstil, so I think it must be from 1900-1920. The maker's mark is either KM, or maybe KH. http://a.imagehost.org/t/0294/PFork.jpg http://h.imagehost.org/t/0875...

Thanks for your information Postnikov. Pity the maker is unknown. Can you be sure it is a Tula vodka cup though? Many thanks for pointing me to Hansen & Andersen. In spite of the wear to the mark, it's possible to see that the mark on the spoon is theirs. Is it a problem that Hansen & Andesen apparently stopped in 1947, whilst the spoon was assayed in 1949?
Best regards

Thanks for the information that this animal's head mark is the Gmund assay office mark, a unicorn's head. There isn't another mark on the napkin ring though, so it seems that either a maker's mark was not obligatory, or it has been worn away.

Walcher on silver tablespoon

These two silver tablespoons are identical in design, and they also carry the same inscribed monogram, so they most probably originate from the same area. One of them carries the maker's mark Walcher and a mark for 13-lotig silver. The other is only marked with a maker's mark of CP. Please can someo...
