This mark of eagle was used by Fraget in years: 1896-1918. It is definitely silverplated. The few digit number is a catalogue number of this item.

The sign to the left is not full. It should show letters WSW, which I means something like: Wytwórnia Sreber w Warszawie or Wytwórnia Srebrnych Wyrobów. I don't know exactly. Anyway I believe it's new brand of this producer before Hefra was established.

One more thing BM stands for Biały Metal which was a metal alloy invented by the Fraget Company. Biały Metal means White Metal which suggested that it has similar coulour to silver and if silverplate gets rubbed it will not be so visible. Earlier they used copper and brass aloys to produce silverp...

Hi everyone,

d. is abbreviation of dawniej (in polish means: earlier). People were used to Fraget mark and after the 1945 the new company showed in this way their connection with prewar Fraget company.

Hi, I would like to add one little correction. The mark showing mermaid was used by Lilpop as his workshop's mark. In this case it's not the city mark. City mark also showed mermaid but it looked slightly different. Lilpop just took this mark in a later period and used it as his own maker's mark. Ho...

The coat of arms is called Poraj or (Rosa, Rosa Alba, Róża, Różyc, Stoice, Una Rosa). It's old Polish coat of arms. That's how it looks enlarged and coloured.

Hi, I don't really understand this whole discussion. All the photos show original signatures, none of them is fake . I collect polish silver and got dozens of them, also ones by Antoni Riedel and the silversmith Kacper Zagórowski from whom Riedel took his maker's mark which shows stirrup (not a bel...

The second mark is definitely a maker's mark though I can't tell you whose exactly.

But the first mark with woman's head and number three, has got a letter W on its left side. It indicates that the mark was struck in Warsaw the capital of Poland. So the silversmith was probably active in Warsaw.

Unknown maker's/assayer's mark from Halberstadt. XVIII cent.

Dear Members, Please help me examine what time and what workshop this piece comes from. It looks to me like the first half of the XVIII century. It's definitely from Halberstadt but I cannot find out anything more about it. I don't know who the maker is (mark with letters T.T and date 1711 within th...
