Thank you so much Trev ! That was quick! I was familiar with Klinkosch but earlier I saw just his mark with initials. Didn't know he used that helmet mark too. All the best! Stan

Hello! I came across this pair of candlesticks. I tried to identify silver marks but I didn't get it yet. They are not clear which doesn't help. There are just two marks on each of the candlesticks. One mark (on the right hand side) looks a bit like a bird ? standing on tall feet (heron or stork bir...
Hello, I would like to use your help with identifying a flower mark. It's struck on silver (12 loth) plate of central European origin, ca 1780-1800 I guess. There are only these two marks: 12 loth standard mark and the misterious flower mark. I searched for this mark in books and online, but I canno...

Hi! I would like to get to know where this sugar box comes from. I mean country of origin, knowing the city and maker would be even better. I guess that mark with number 3 is silver control mark for .800 silver purity. Is it import mark? What country used this mark? Thank you in advance for any info...
I placed them because I there are no examples in you russian city marks section. Thought you need some examples. I mistaken Riga with Novgorod, that's all. Best regards.
Here you have an example of Suck mark with Kalisz city mark. Also on a sugar box. What's characteristic for Suck (often seen on his pieces) it's made of low quality silver of just 11 loth.
On the website you wrote you need some examples of the Russian marks from Veliky Novogrod and Jitomir, Dorpat so I post few I found on ordinary russian spoons (one of Jitomir is struck on a candlestick) http://i52.tinypic.com/20zp3ed.jpg http://i51.tinypic.com/2q3dqad.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/2uyl...
In Poland there were few silverplating compannies. The biggest one was Fraget, he started his business in early 1830. Pieces from this period are quite rare. Next big company is Norblin, that started production right after Fraget. The third biggest company was Henneberg. Next worth mentioning was Pl...
Thank you very much. You've been very helpful. Quite honestly I didn't expect such answer. Im not familiar with portugeese marks, much more often I deal with central and eastern europe marks. Here is the overall picture of the jug you asked for: http://i55.tinypic.com/16jx3a.jpg Thank you once more!
The mark seen on the spoon by Ludwik Nast is his own maker's mark depicting snake eating its own tail. Its usually not so visible but you may see it sometimes.

There are two differens things: silver maker and silver retailer. Some of the makers were retailers at the s...
