I don't normally venture into Russian silver because I know nothing about it and it seems to require a bit of additional study to avoid fakes. However I bought this cup as German in origin and when I was looking into where it might be from, most of the examples with a similar design show up as Russi...
I am probably absolutely wrong but until I see a clearer picture of the mark I think maybe a sword, I wouldn't outright dismiss it. In my line of work, I come across a lot of small silver jewelry articles and I have seen enough of them to know that there was a time when the Netherlands produced a lo...
I could be wrong as the picture is a bit blurry but to the extreme right of the sponsor mark is a Dutch small works sword mark indicating .833 minimum fineness and at the tip of the sword a key mark indicating the item was exported.
This is a copy of a page from an original catalog for the Towle Pattern 'Lafayette'. Sardine forks do usually look like small rakes though so I understand your confusion.

Also could any of the French-speaking members kindly spell out phonetically how to pronounce Puiforcat?
Thanks Peter, your guess is better than mine. Ultimately though it will never really be identified due to the poor quality of the marks. I was wondering though if this particular style of spoon or its design elements were more common in a particular city or Provence. I know for the most part the sty...
I have enclosed as many pictures as I can to aid in its identification but they are so worn I have little hope. I think the date letter is a V or maybe an N? But any information is better than none. I also know this spoon could also be early 18th century as well. Thank you in advance! https://i.post...
I don't think its fake at all. Wait till Theodrich sees it first. I have a few old Nuremberg pieces and this is how they are usually marked. Do you have a pic of the entire piece?
The marks on this spoon have me stumped (which is honestly why I bought it). It appears on close examination to be two eagles or birds with outspread wings. On the other side is a Cursive L in a rectangle with clipped corners. It appears Scandanavian to me but it could be from a Baltic country. It i...
