Re: Neusohl spoons

Many thanks, Krisztián, very interesting informations for me. But, i am not sure i understand well : You thing, in my 13loth mark is year 1839 and to this year belong yearletter U (agree with your picture and with "V" for 1840), yes? So, in my case yearletters don't fit in the row, yes? D...

Dear friends, this perforated ladle is marked in st.Petersburg - city mark seem to me be OK, i am right? Also maker mark JAL i identify as unidentified master from st.Petersburg, workong around 1870 and making laddles etc. But, i can not find any information about assayer B.C from st.Petersburg - on...

Neusohl spoons

Hello, friends, these spoons were made in former Austrian empire, in Hungarian (now Slovakian) city Banská Bystrica (Neusohl). Year is not clearly legible, it is 183? - seem to be 1833, but it not agree with makers working period. So, it can be 1839 (or i have not proper maker dates). Maker is Aloj...

Re: Niello beaker, Moskva 1859

Many thanks for your comments, Zolotnik and Qrt.S. About niello, i am not expert for russian silver, i collect especially austro-hungarian pieces. But, i am almost sure, this is really niello, not black paint. It is difficult to photo, but there are some details typical for niello alloy fill in engr...

Niello beaker, Moskva 1859

Dear colleague collectors, i know, here are many fakes of old russian silver, but this niello beaker is, on my opinion, OK, whats your meaning? Niello is really niello, marks are also, as i mean, congenial - Mark for Moscow = St.Georgius to the right, assayer mark =Авдеев И. active 1852-1862, maker ...

Re: I didn't think this was silver...but

You are right, double-head eagle mark (Austrian imperial eagle) can use only "kaiserlicher und königlicher Hoflieferant" (Royal warrant of appointment). And, of course, no one maker was hoflieferant every time (use eagle mark only in years, he was approved as hoflieferant-in other years c...

Re: Please help me to read the mark on my article.

marks on first image are surely austrian - mark 12 D is "repunzierungsmarke" from year 1806, used for old silver - so, it is surelly approved, your piece is older than 1806. This re-mark was punched, after paying some tax - 12 kreuzer for every loth Ag. Re-marked item can rest in personal ...

Saltcellar 1801, Austrian Galizien (Brzezany?)

Dear friends, in my collection, i have this nice small bowl (saltcellar). I buy it as alpaca, but it is clearly 13-loth silver from year 1801. It was re-hallmarked (1806) in Lwov (Lemberg) - mark half-moon + D. (mark is somewhat damaged - possibly damaged punch - it seem to be typical for Lemberg´s...

Theoderich: Thank You, i know and i thing, it is the same, or what's Your opinion? Also, in some auction house, i have seen very similar saltcellar, assigned to Johann Gottlieb Schmidt : http://tezcatlipoca.wz.cz/igs.jpg But there is some disagreement. As i know, IGS work 1731-1769. And Rosenberg wr...

Re: Austrian candlestick

A2 can also be Moravská Třebová (Mährisch Trübau), 1903-21. Especially in combination with maker mark FB, famous Czech maker František Bibus - active in Trübau till 1949 with Czechoslovak hallmarks, then nationalized and fused with Sandrik (6-petal flower mark).

Re: Austrian candlestick

Hi dognose et all, my informations about "taxe frei" and similar marks are chiefly from book "Vývoj Českého puncovnictví" published by Czech assay office 2001. Austria, due to Napoleonic wars, have financial problems, issue too many paper money and have great deficiency of si...

Re: Austrian candlestick

Hello, nice item. Left is surely rest of austrian 13 loth mark. Right is residue of austrian "Taxe frei" mark, used 1810-1824. City letter possibly A?(Vienna). I include foto of some taxe frei mark from my collection (city letter B-prague): Regards M. http://oi43.tinypic.com/2ywzji0.jpg

Austria 1807 - Maker identification

Hello, friends Can someone help me with maker identification? I don't have, unfortunately, Neuwirth (don't know, this mark is in). Mark seem to be GV without word breaking marks (in rectangle?). Item (oval dish on goat legs) was made 1807, 1808 or 1809 (mark with year 1807 was in use 07-09), unfortu...
