Re: Possible Scottish provincial marks

Cheers Trev, always good to get another's opinion when unsure. Just wasn't sure if the thistle punch was Edinburgh or not, as it was the standard thistle mark I have seen previously. I didn't find the maker mark looking under Edinburgh. I'll keep searching.

Possible Scottish provincial marks

Not sure if these are Scottish provincial marks or not, I have searched, but have been unable to find a match on the maker anywhere, Makers mark is either MR or MP (more likely I think). The thistle mark is not typical of Edinburgh's thistle mark. The item is a spoon. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/X...

Makers mark help please - Marmaduke Daintry?

Just wondering if this is a mark belonging to Marmaduke Daintry or someone else. I know I have seen this mark before, but wondering if my memory is playing tricks on me! Item is a silver spoon.

Thank you

Yeah, it was a mistake, I think I had Birmingham on the brain for some reason at the time of posting it!

I am unsure of the makers mark C & A is for Corke & Apthorp or for Collett & Anderson

Item is a silver and tortoiseshell hatpin if that helps and is hallmarked for Birmingham, 1919

Forgot to add, I originally thought this might be Scottish provincial, but was unsure after I checked my little book that has minor guild marks in. Glad my initial thought were correct.

Re: Birmingham Hallmark

They are English hallmarked silver, but they look like a dressing table set, hairbrushes from the photos, if so, they are silver mounted.

There is probably more to the makers mark, but has probably worn away, sometimes using a loupe and getting the mark in the right light, you can sometimes see more.

For some reason the marks look like 9ct to me, could be white gold.
