Re: Marks on silver spectacles frames

Nice find, I love the old spectacles, especially folding arms, like you have. Thanks! They’re marked “Pebbles” on the right arm which, I believe, refers to their being magnifying reading glasses. Amazingly, they just happen to be the same strength as the modern reading glasses I wear so, sometimes,...

Re: Marks on silver spectacles frames

I have had a few pairs of Georgian silver spectacles, one with London assay office hallmarks, one London, but no assay office marks, one with Birmingham assay office marks. Nice find, I love the old spectacles, especially folding arms, like you have.

Re: London Hallmark Tea Set

What a lovely set, it is hallmarked for 1878 (the letter C in a shield), London and if that is SS for the makers mark, then I think it is by Goldsmiths Alliance Ltd (Samuel Smily), more info is available on Phil's site: http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/London-SS-SZ.html#SS If I am incorrect...

Russian marks? Fake or real?

Russian, Latvian etc marks always confuse me (a bit of a minefield), so I am asking here for clarification as to whether these are Russian marks, fake or real, as I have no idea, sorry. Would be nice to label this correctly in my spoon collection. They are on the side of a spoon handle https://www.9...

Re: Salt spoon, possible duty dodger - WE makers mark

I already checked through Phil's site, but with too many similar WE marks, it is not possible to determine who the maker was so far.

Thanks for your reply, I will have another look around on the web when I get more time later today.

Salt spoon, possible duty dodger - WE makers mark

Found this spoon today whilst walking the dog. It is a fiddle and thread salt spoon, with only WE on the back of the handle, I am wondering if this might be a duty dodger and if so, who is the maker? Thanks in advance https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg

Maker Identification on Sterling spoon

Might be a long shot this one, I have been through the pictorial American marks, but not confident enough to find who may have made this spoon. Showing the marks present, the handle and spoon bowl, in case that helps with the identification. Any help would be appreciated. https://www.925-1000.com/pi...

London importer maker mark ID please

I have a German .930 silver spoon, German maker Richard Garten. I have looked for the import mark on here, Phil's site and another site, but I have not been able to find it. The date of the spoon is 1890. Showing both sets of marks, the German marks for reference. https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg....
