Good evening Qrt.s - I am very glad you found him!! Many thanks! In my collection I have several other match box holders from Rukavischnikov, but they are all marked with BP only. Do you have a scan of the BEP mark in your sources? If yes - I would be grateful to see it and update my files. Many tha...

Hi Qrt.s - First, I really appreciate the "bookwormish ernest" how you approach things! "What I can not read black on white I do not believe!" But please realise that knowledge comes from doing thousand times the same thing until the thousand and first time every thing is differe...

Hi - Jaschin Ivan Kusmitsch, the owner of a larger silverfactory making mostly "stakantschik and loschki" (little vodka shotglases in silver and spoons ) could be your man. But first let´s have a look at the spoon again when imagehost.org is working. (photobucket never crashes....), becau...

Hi - as much as I would like the idea of W. Reimer - all the punches are very clear (2 cases, 4 marks) - there is really no doubt! It is KW ! If it is Karl Werlin I am a little sceptical - until I see a foto or scan of this mark. In my sources Werlin had only one mark, but you learn every day. Regar...

Hi -
I do not know why it is like that but I noticed it over the years of inspecting marks. It is important to know if you want to find the right name.

I got 2 cigarette cases by the same maker in Trompe l´oeil optic. Unknown (for me ) assaymaster IE , 1871, St. Petersburg. Master KW I can not find anything who he could be. Some knowing person speculated about the Wäkeva -family (several smiths of this family worked for Fabergé) but there is ver...

Hi - the maker´s mark is always upside down next to the kokoshnik mark! That was the procedere (mostly). The sketch of Qrt.s is right on target - there are several forms of the letter "F" in cyr. possible and used. See sketch - what you have is Nr 5. http://i529.photobucket.com/albums/dd3...

Hi - I know it is dubious in spite that the 3 known punches are very conceiving but the timegap.... That is always disturbing me that a piece of very good quality and fairly legible marks can not be assigned to a certain person. Why is it overstruck? Is it one of the "new-old-stock" pieces...

Hi -
I think the problem is solved - probably it is Robert Kochin, badly strucked - No. 5 on your list - the only one with this significant "Baloon - K" in the books.

Stopka is correct but when I quickly read, the kyr. P looks like the lat. M for me sometimes. Sorry.

Good evening Qrt.S - thank you for your long list (that I had expected) of names of the cyrill. version , but all are not in enamel working. Tsarist Niello & Soviet Imitation Niello

HI - A word regarding Soviet silver, looking like and be described as niello. This "niello" is not niello, it is a chemical oxydation, looking at the first glance like niello. All the fake niello silver is made like that today, only the contures of the sujet are engraved. So be careful! Re...
