There were a number of wrong attributions in the collection. After consulting Richard Turners...
http://d.imagehost.org/t/0325/DSCF0549.jpg http://d.imagehost.org/t/0639/DSCF0551.jpg When I acquired this mote spoon it had been tentatively attributed to a JR maker, but after research I believe it to be SK. Samuel Key, Grimwade 2566, Jackson page 197 is the most similar mark I can find. Does any...
http://a.imagehost.org/t/0851/CR1.jpg http://h.imagehost.org/t/0540/CR2.jpg By a process of elimination I have tentatively attributed this CR makers mark on an Edinburgh 1817 spoon to Colin Richardson. He is first referred to in Perth 1813, has a mention in Scottish Provincial Silversmiths at Perth...

http://j.imagehost.org/t/0920/CRAW1.jpg http://h.imagehost.org/t/0909/CRAW2.jpg I have previously posted about the two marks currently attributed to Matthew CRAW, but I cannot find a reference anywhere to this makers mark CRAW on an undated Edinburgh spoon. Does anybody have any information or opin...
http://a.imagehost.org/t/0774/AMcL1.jpg http://i.imagehost.org/t/0974/AMcL2.jpg This makers mark appears to be Alexander MacLEOD of Inverness on an 1822 Edinburgh spoon. Another website has this mark on an 1823 Edinburgh butterknife but is unattributed. Edinburgh Assay website has him submitting wo...
From my collection, W. Hutton & Son London 1894. A common pattern, these were retailed by Cameron & Son Jewellers, Kilmarnock, Scotland in 1895. Have seen same for sale in Antique shops.
Mike Thanks again. Same excuse, failed to fully follow all the trails at Edinburgh Assay site. The mark is shown as unidentified in the main index, but when you click on 'Andrew Wilkie' a worn mark which 'appears' the same is displayed, I was hoping somebody knows more, the mark shown by Dietert is ...
http://j.imagehost.org/t/0800/AWspec1.jpg http://j.imagehost.org/t/0992/AWspec2.jpg The AW is mistruck or worn but the indentation at the top left is repeated bottom right which can be more clearly seen at the Edinburgh Assay site where it is unidentified in 1847 and elsewhere it appears as unident...
http://j.imagehost.org/t/0041/MORTON1.jpg http://j.imagehost.org/t/0011/MORTON2.jpg My research leads me to believe this is Andrew Wilkie and MORTON is a retailer. I am aware of a MORTON AE (Andrew Edmonstoun) spoon. Jackson only has one AW in the Scottish section, Alex Wotherspoon of Glasgow which...
Thank you for the lesson. I have refreshed my memory on Hanovarian spoons and purchased Grimwade, which luckily is on special offer at an internet bookseller.
I am no expert but the way the centre uprights cross at the top of W is identical to a mark for Thomas Wallis as shown in a photograph at silvercollection, click on 'more' when you get there. The part date letter could be the upright of 'b' for 1777.
