Re: Early 20th century coffee urn with European hallmarks

I should add that the only initials are the ecp in the clover-like shield and that it sounds similar to the item discussed here (in terms of the marks): http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2573&p=4519&hilit=ecp#p4519 But that item was never identified because the poster co...

Early 20th century coffee urn with European hallmarks

Hello Everyone: I am researching this coffee urn and the marks have me completely stumped! It appears to me to be a early 20th century design, possibly 1910s because of the finial, but other may think it's late 1800s. It feels like solid silver (800-925), smells like silver and has no plate bleeding...

Hi: I would guess that it is from the first half of the 20th century, most likely I think c. 1920. It is from China. The SILVER marks means that there is a good chance that it has some silver content (at least in my experience). The SILVER mark, however, does not guarantee silver content and you may...

Can't see the pictures, but the mark sounds like it is Japanese.

Hi:

It looks Japanese to me. I would guess first half of the 20th century. The marks are the artist's signature or workshop. Unfortunately, I cannot read it.

Hi John:

This spoon looks Thai to me, but I'm not familiar with the mark. Hopefully someone else can help with the translation. I would guess that it is a maker's mark.

Best Wishes,
Kirsten

Hi:

The mark looks like it reads "silver". This is common on early-mid 20th century silver from China. You should know that just because it is marked "SILVER" does not guarantee its silver content. You might want to have it tested.
