Re: Rattail Trefid spoon

...five years later and a little more wiser I probably found the origin of this spoon. It seems to be made in Horneburg, Lower Saxony from one of the three known gold smithes with a family name beginning with "K" (F. E. Klein, J. B. Kohl or J. C. Krull; cf. Scheffler p. 856). Indicative In...

Hello Steve,

the other mark is not "HA" but "VH". It is Villads Hansen from Næstved in Denmark.

Re: Silver ladle with inserted Dutch silver coin

Hello Peter, there was a gold smith Claus Otzen from Haderslev / Hadersleben in Denmark with the mark "CO". The most pieces I know from him are marked with double "CO". Here an example: http://soelvske.dk/Web/Byer/Haderslev/Claus+Otzen He died 1806 and to my opinion the ladle was...

Re: Old Prussian Snuff Box - Need help dating

Hello hankdurschlag, it is only a feeling, but there are some indications that let me think your box was made in Silesia. I think "FR" is not the makers mark but the city mark. The use of letters ore letter combinations as city marks was common in Silesia. But there are about 10 citys begi...

Hello sdc2007,

the "PL" mark is from Pavel Knudsen Lund (1726-1794) from Aalborg in Denmark. About the other mark I am not sure.

Re: Is this a spoon from Bremen?

Hello Jörg,

Scheffler schows a "DCF" mark in rectangle for Diedrich Christian Reinhard Fillmer (born 1800) from Bremen. I am sure he is the maker of your spoon. I think it was made about 1850.

Best regards,
Ringo

Hello JayT,

the number at the top of the P under the crown should be the last two numbers of the production-year. So it should be a 87.

Hello Aguest, you are right. This spoons were popular in northern Germany, especially on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein. Hello,

could it be that there is written "HENNIGER" in the oval? "H&C" can be Henniger and Co, Nickelsilver producer in Berlin.

Hello,

I think, it is the mark of Peter Petersen Mollerup from the city Viborg in Denmark (Bøje, Køberstaederne, p. 204).

Hello Qrt.S,

my mistake. You are right, Friedrich Ernst Behrens is also a possible candidat. But Andreas Berg is to old. The spoon is a 19th century spoon.

Hello,
it is the mark of Fesenmayr (Seling No. 1992, p. 473)

The ingraved name is Anna Badensis, not Badenfis ( I think it is the latin translation of Anna von Baden).

unknown marks from 1738

Hello, I would be pleased, if some one has an idea about this marks. I do not know, whether the "SS" (or "?SS" - if there is a rest of a letter above the "SS") mark is the city mark. Engraved rat tails I mostly know from Denmark and northern Germany. But there I found n...
