Re: early spoon, probably from Denmark

Hello By researching the danish makers marks I found out, that a lot of masters used three letters in the makers mark when the family name is a compound word ( for example Hieronimus Svaerdfeger “HGF” or Ditlev Brasenhauer “DBH”). But when the thirt letter in the makers mark is an “S”, it stands oft...

coin spoon from Schweidnitz / Swidnica

Hello, has anybody an idea about the maker of this coin spoon from Schweidnitz? It looks to me that it was made in the 30s or 40s of the 18th century. In this times worked Johann Friedrich Wuendisch in Schweidnitz. Unfortunatelly the mark is overstrucked. Kind regards, Ringo https://www.925-1000.com...

early spoon, probably from Denmark

Hello, I have a spoon, sadly without city mark. i have seen similar spoons made by Carsten Lauridse, Copenhagen from the end of the 17th century, also without city mark. So I presume, that the spoon was made in Denmark. Has anybody an idea? Kind regards, Ringo https://s1.postimg.org/1v8sg4jeb3/Frage...

unknown 20th century silver mark "three fir trees"

Hello, usually I am not interested in 20th century silver, but in this case it is a piece from my grandparents. So I would be glad, if some one knows the maker of this spoon. Kind regards, Ringo https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg

Re: Spoon identification - Gundelach 12

Hello mjacob4130,

most probably it is Johann Friedrich Gundelach. He worked in the first half of the 19th century in the city Braunschweig (Brunswick). His mark was "GUNDELACH" in a rectangle.

Ringo

Re: Old Prussian Snuff Box - Need help dating

Hello Hank,
there is a difference between the crown on your box (older crown of lower nobility) and the crown from Prince Heinrich (older count crown).
Could you please make a shaper foto of the mark left of the 12 (through a magnifying glass)?

regards,
Ringo

Re: Old Prussian Snuff Box - Need help dating

Hello hankdurschlag, the box surely was made in the 18th century. Definitely it was made before the usage of the prussian "FW" tax marks (1809-1812). So your presumption, that the "FR" mark means "Gebüder Friedländer" is impossible. Furthermore the letters under the cro...

Re: Dresden: date letter M

I have spoons from the 1790s that look very much alike. Was it usual to copy old shapes in the 1840s? Or did i misinterpret the makers mark? Hello orthogonal, you are right, the shape of your spoon is indeed a 18th century shape and was not common in the 19th century (may be it was a contract work ...

Re: Silver book binding

Hello niceguy1,
the eagle is the city mark from Frankfurt, the last mark "IIL" (upside down) ist the mark of Johann Jakob Löschhorn (1740-1787), goldsmith in Frankfurt (W. Scheffler, Hessen, p.312).
Concerning the other mark I have no idea.

Regards,
Ringo
