Nice set you have bought Alan. Its in Russian Tiffany style (Art Nuovo/Jugend) and as such not so common. Its made between 1899-1908 in Moscow. But now I must specify one thing. You mention Ivan Lebedkin, ИЛ, which is correct, but he is the assayer not the maker/master. The assayer is only an offi...

Mango forks??? I have my doubts about that. The first photo with the two forks might be that but the second photo shows undoubtedly a potato fork as Bahner already mentioned. The potato fork is very well known in Finland, Russia, the baltic states, Poland and Germany but not in other countries. Here...

If that is all marks on the tankard, its not Russian but maybe Polish (Warzaw ~1860-1899?) I would say. (I'm not familiar with Polish marks, sorry). The Imperial Russia's marking system is very strict and this mark does not fulfill those criteria. There is no assayer's mark only a master mark. The s...

Good photos. Who the guy on the picture is, I don't know. Anyway, the frame is made in Moscow between 1908-1926. Unfortunately the maker (ФЛ latin FL) seems to be unknown i my books, maybe someone else know him.

No problem Frank, this is a rather difficult area. Anyway, the woman's head is called kokoshnik, in other words a Russian ladies' diadem. I'll wait for better photos.

Well Frank, its essential to have a better picture of the last of your photos. However, it looks like Moscow and the time frame might be 1851-1872. Unfortunately ABJ (?) is unfamiliar to me. But kindly explain what you mean with ... but pre Zelotnik (?) mark. . The Z o lolotnik mark is the 84 and th...

It might be that the initials are HW, but they are most unlikely Wigström's . Hes mark was H.W. (note the dots!) in an oval shield. In addition Wigström made mostly jewelery in Russian folk style and luxurious pieces in gold. Fashionable cigarette cases was also one of his specialties. He didn't m...

Ok, let’s assume that the basket is genuine. In that case what are the answers to the following questions: 1. Is there additional marks on the handle, foots and the “wall”? These parts are detachable and should carry separate marks according to the rules. 2. Does the mark to the right show the numbe...

The double headed eagle is a part of the Morozov mark. When a Russian silver smith became a supplier to the imperial court, he was allowed to use this mark on his products. However, it doesn't mean that such a piece was used by the emperor or his family, not even in the court . It is just a mark wit...

Very sorry, but I cannot find any suitable AH/AN. Unfortunately there are are lot of unidentified makers in Russia in particular the closer you are to the revolution. Let's hope somebody else can come up with a name.

Unfortunately I cannot find any Cyrillic AB (AV) or even Latin, Maybe somebody else can identify the master. I wouldn't draw a conclusion that they are of Morozov production if there are no marks indicating that, not even if they are identical. They could be (later) copies made by whoever. Both the ...

On last comment to this interesting discussion. It is very true that marking a filigree work is difficult. Usually the marks are on the bottom or on the base ring on the inside. About the marking in general, I forgot to mention that on a Russian silver piece every detachable part must carry a mark. ...

Yes they are from St Petersburg. Very famous company this Morozov. As I mentioned in my other answers to you, forget A. Richter, it is Aleksandr Romanov who is the assayer. The engraved initials belong to the owner of the knives, who that is, is a good question. Are the knives inherited or family tr...

The manufacturing silver company is as you mention A. Ljubawin (Aleksandr Benediktovitsh) founded 1893 in St. Petersburg. The AH (AN) is not the assayer but the maker, unfortunately unkown to me. The assayer's initials AP (AR) are behind the kokoshnik. He is Aleksandr Romanov in St.P.
