Ohoh, really Postnikov….your solution is rather incredible and far fetched but in those years it could be plausible. I do not really buy it, but I can live with it. Let it be the case's case :-). If I had a better explanation, I.... but I haven't.

Hi Ahaaaa! Thank you Postnikov, I have seen this НП (#55) but I didn't realize to connect these marks with each other because there is no shield with rounded corners in the mark on your cigarette case. Now it seems to makes sense (even to me :-)) or does it? , I still wonder about the missing shie...

Hi Smart guy this assayer from Helsinki. Of course he scratched off 1,67/1000 gold and kept it before i marked the item and no harm done to anybody :-) But really, I haven't the faintest idea what this means, can't know it all you know. But 585/1000=56,16 zolotniki=14,04 carats. However, I wonder ho...

Its a lovely case but doesn't it need some polishing? Silver must shine! About the import mark. Interesting that the import mark shows another quality than the case is. But yes, you're right there was no other punch at that time. It came with the next generation as from 1908. There you have the &quo...

Heheeh, I saw that , yes, but I like to tease you and nature has given me a suspicious mind i.e. nothing can be taken for granted especially regarding Russian silver. You know that I suppose. I have learned my lessons in this matter.... too may fakes and forgeries circulating. The assayer HK is a st...

Hello, I have stumbled into this question before and unfortunately I have no answer. I have never seen lists or documents clearing where from Russia imported such things in general. From all over I suppose. Nevertheless, this special import mark was enacted in an instruction from 1882 and used to ~1...

Let me put it this way. The cross for Tallinn was used during the 1800-century and earlier but not later. Showing the purity in thousands (900) started in the late half of the 1900-century. It’s not from Russia because there are no Russian standard marks i.e. kokoshnik, maker’s mark etc. Aleksander ...

Oh, I completely forgot another source. Fyodor was an assistant to 1903. From 1903-1913 assistant manager and 1913-1917 manager of the jewelry department of Fabergé. In 1911 he owned a gold and silver workshop on Voznesensky pr. 36 in St P. The firm worked for Fabergé and produced among other item...

In addition to what you already know is very little to add. He was born around 1870 but hes date of death is unknown. He was as an apprentice to E. Sistonen (a Finn). It is not for sure that he worked with Karl Bock. However, it is only that he presumably worked with Bock 1888-1907. As you said, wit...

Hi again, I’m happy that you have amended the assayers’ list. Maybe we cold make some more amendments to the list. There is a lot of missing assayers and I could tell you at least some of the missing names if you are interested. However, it would increase the list quite a much, so ? Anyway, There is...

Heheheh, du läser Antikprat. I've seen the same picture. It is in a book by the name of The Fabulous Epoch of Fabergé, page 198.

Unfortunately my piece is so far unidentified. I'm not sure if its even silver. It has this strange face+84 mark. What can you tell?

Morning. OK, thanks, good to know. Please also know that every detachable piece in an genuine Russian item must carry a mark. Not necessary the same mark all over but an assay mark anyway. There are exceptions as some works in filigree and other similar things which are either very small or difficul...

Hi
I just noticed that according to the regulations both the maker's mark and the kokoshnik on a Russian cigarette case should without exceptions be struck on both halves on the cigarette case. Whether it is on the inside or outside is not stated but on both halves anyway.

Morning Postnikov No problem, you're welcome, however, this investigating silver marks and especially Finnish and Russian, is my hobby so to say. You collect silver, I investigate marks, actually an interesting combination. I also collect silver but not to your extent, I don't have money :-), it goe...
