Re: Help with Br.S mark on open work spoon

OK, now we are talking. Nevertheless, the mark Br.S. is Norwegian and belongs to either: Haakon Olaf Schøien, born 1851 and dead 1901, master 1885-1901 in Oslo or Gustaf Schøien, born 1854 and dead 1928, master 1885-1928 in Oslo Norway's capital's old name was Oslo but in 1877 it was renamed to Kris...

Re: other 24

РГСЛ (Latin RGSL) is a Russian maker's mark. Unfortunately I don't know whose mark it is (too new). Anyway, sterling silver made 1994 - up to date. Unfortunately the letter behind the kokshnik is "bad". It would have shown the town. Please move your question to the Russian section and you ...

Re: russian Jewelry 1

Hmmmm, not so rare but not so common either I would say, at least 20-30 are known most of them in St. Petersburg. The most famous is Хлебников. Moreover, X as an Anfang letter can be found in family names translated to Russian from other languages.

Re: Jewelry14

Mind my saying but there are two kinds of this star punch. The first one where the hammer and sickle are marked with contours only as from 14th July 1959 to 15th November 1965 and a second one as from 16th November 1965 to 1st October 1992, where the hammer and sickle in the star are massive. Unfort...

Re: russian Jewelry 1

They are Soviet silver marks. Unfortunately very unclear. Anyway, it looks like Moscow 1927-1954. The rhomboid framed maker's mark is unfortunately unknown to me. Let's hope AG2012 will come up with an answer regarding the maker..

New try: First of all NOT Russian but Soviet made. The difference/quality between Russian made and Soviet made is more than enormous. Anyway it is made in: Ювелирно Часовая Мастерская in Ташкент (Jewelry Watch Workshop in Tashkent (Capital in Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic) 1958. It is a СТОПКА (St...

Re: Kiddush Cup

@Shub33
Correct! What you could call it is стопка (stopka). It is more likely a "Russian" shot glass for vodka

Re: Kiddush Cup

A minor addition: If there are no more marks (no maker's mark!) than the shown assaying mark, it means that the object is imported goods, but where from is a good question...?

Re: Kiddush Cup

Yes, I was just looking for the maker's mark and there is none visible. In addition, this is most likely an ordinary Russian vodka cop. What makes you think it is a kiddush cup?

Re: Russian silver mark

Is there a glass insert? If not, the object is rather useless. To find a replacing insert is close to mission impossible!
