Re: Silver spoon. Silver stamp "W" with crown. Germany?

Yes, it could be CC. Forssman from the former Finnish town Viborg (lost in WW II) on the Carelian Isthmus). Forssman's mark is known to be CC.F or C.C.F in a square shield. He is know to have made spoons (with or without fiddle stems) among other objects. The stem on this spoon (rococo) is rather ty...

Re: Unknown 18th century makers mark

#Kirils If you read everything you would understand that this is a silver mark forum. Moreover. I haven't claimed that beaker is yours. Read more carefully the text. What I want to know is this: Kuzma Grigoriev in Moscow 1738-1749 (mark CG) but also Kuzmin Anisim Grigoriev in Moscow 1741-1749(52) (m...

Re: Unknown 18th century makers mark

In my papers I managed to find the following:
Kuzma Grigoryev in Moscow 1738-1749 (mark CG)
but also
Kuzmin Anisim Grigoryev in Moscow 1741-1749(52) (mark AK)

Kindly tell me what is correct, who is who....or not?

Re: Unknown 18th century makers mark

The last shown beaker is marked AK and not CG. Now we have CG for Grigoriev Kuzma and now suddenly also ГС ??? Who is who and where from is the information that CG would be Grigoriev Kuzma (except for Postnikova #2078) Interesting that the beaker in the link also shoves ГК. Moreover year 1745 on all...

Re: Unknown 18th century makers mark

I believe you are misunderstanding me. Kuzma was as said an assayer. The alderman's mark has usually a "heart shaped" or rather similar shield. The problem here is that there is no maker's mark on the cup and that is alarming! CG is supposed to be the assayer and АЕЛ is supposed to be alde...

Re: Unknown 18th century makers mark

Sorry I made a minor typo. Kuzma's working period as an assayer was 1738(41)-1749.

Re: Unknown 18th century makers mark

Please believe what AG102 tells you. He is absolutely right. This is a very very suspicious object. Grigorjev Kuzma was an assayer (an official) in Moscow 1838-49. He didn't "make" anything. As an official he only guaranteed the legal silver fineness of an object. He is not know to have ma...

Re: Russian box: Town? & Maker?

You are welcome. However, please note that the Russian sites contain only a fraction of all Russian maker's marks. What I am saying is that you cannot draw the conclusion that a mark is not Russian if you don't find it on the mentioned sites here! They are guiding sites only! In this case the mark h...

Re: Russian box: Town? & Maker?

Sorry AG2012, but the mark was implemented in January 1920 not 1919.

Re: Russian box: Town? & Maker?

A minor addition. Because the republic was just "born" they didn't have any official silver marks. Therefore the purity is in Russian zolotniki. Please also note that there are several variations of this mark. Moreover, this mark was used 1920-24. New marks in promille was implemented in 1...

Re: Russian box: Town? & Maker?

It is Estonia. The maker's name is Johannes Messner 1924-1940 in Tallinn. EW stands for Eesti Vabariik (Republic of Estonia). The marks are the first ones used in the independent first republic of Estonia 1920-1924.

Re: other 36

The worker's head in an oval frame was used 1927- 1954. At that time Tallinn's assay office used the Cyrillic letter Н (Latin N. On 14th July 1959 Tallinn's H was changed to Э) The oval frame was superseded with the shovel frame (клеима и Лопаки) 1954-58 on small objects and the oval frame abandoned...

Re: other 25

Unfortunately I don't recognize the maker's mark but the hallmark (the worker's head with a sledge hammer) tells us that it is made in Tallinn, Estonia between 1927-1954.

Re: Two Side Hand Mirror "C.G H g"

Sometimes W is used alongside with V. (In Swedish alphabet there is no particular difference between V and W, both are used in the year marks. W more seldom). The manufacturing year is the same W6 is 1901. CGH stands for Carl Gustaf Hallberg 1864-1988. After CGH's death the company was renamed to C....

Re: Russian silver…

Yes the "kiot(a)" was and still is a wooden box with a front/lid of glass showing/protecting the icon, made in cedar or whatever. Anyway, we are now talking about this "шкатуска" in silver and not a kiota aren't we, or? I still think it is a oblate box, but as said...? Because it...

Re: Russian silver…

@AG2012 КИОТ ???? mind my saying, but to my understanding a kiot is a box or cabinet for icons. This is in my opinion more likely a box for oblate in Russian: "шкатуска" (chkatuska). Alternatively for relics, but...? It is a Christmas gift from deacon (диакон) Vladimir on January 18th 1871...

Re: OTHER31

As AG2012 already clarified. However, there is a missing part from your tea strainer. It is the spring from the loop that holds the strainer in position in the teapot's spout. No big deal. It is easy to replace with a silver wire.
