I bought this spoon at a church fair about 3 months ago, my take on the hallmarks are - maker simon levy 1818/1828 - assay exeter - date letter 1820-1, this seems a little odd to me with 1818 inscribed under the monograms, am i correct with the marks or is there something fishy going on with this sp...
i've been serching this site & others to find the origen of these hallmarks on some sugar tongs i picked up, i'm sure they are solid silver as the engraving on them is quite deep & has struck no base metal, i'd say there mid to late 1800s by the syle & engraving, i bught these in Austral...
