Hi, Your spoon is probably German made in the first half of the 19th century. Il looks lika a variant of the lancet type, and in my opinion I have narrowed the area of search to Bavaria (Bayern), because the top of the shield resembles the blue and white (silver) lozenges of the Bavarian flag. The m...

Hi again!

I read clearly two "s" and the other capital S is perhaps the maker and not a Berliner, perhaps the reason why it lacks the bear and the assayer's letter and Demessieur is in this case the retailer.

Hi,
I guess that it could be Johann Christoph Demessieur in Berlin, Königlicher Hofjuwelier (jeweler to the court), master 1822 - ca. 1860.

Hope this helps!

Hi Oel, This is not a Swedish snuff box, because it lacks the 1. three crowns hallmark, which came into force as a national state control mark on 1 January 1754, 2. standard mark for articles of gold stamped with the carat standard; in this case 18K, 3. year letter from 1759 prevalent in the whole c...

Hi,

Your snuff box is French. Please have a look at Claude Doutre Roussel. The mark looks similar.

Michelsen was actually my first thought, but he was registered as a master in 1841 three years later than the year 1838 on the spoon. Michelsen was honoured and appointed jeweler of the court in 1848 and I believe that his production was prolific and his customers were among the upper classes of the...

It stands to be corrected but I guess, based on the fact that the crown resembles the royal Danish and a perfect match of the mark, that your very nice spoon was made by Andreas Mortensen Møller in Copenhagen. He was born in 1772, master 1802 and died in 1846.

Hope this helps!

Hi, Your object is actually made by the Dutch master "VS over a star". I do not know this mark and there are too many possibilities to have a guess. The lion rampant is the standard .934 and the key is the Dutch export mark. I can not read the date letter. The other mark, you mention, is p...
