well thank-you for that. Iv'e been searching the hallmark site all afternoon in despair ! Here are photos of the 2 pieces. Never occurred to me to give the measurements! I also didn't mention the brass inner cup. 5.5cm. (2.17 inch) in diameter and 6cm. (2.36 inch) high. Weighs 120g. Would that not be too big for an egg cup ? my eggs are certainly not big enough. Having a closer look there's copper showing through the si...

Inherited this from my grandparents. Seems to be silver plate repoussée metal( pewter?). I can't think what it was used for, seeem unlikely for drinking out of.
