Re: Unusual Mark on enamel and 935 snake bracelet

I am not going to be much help on the maker's mark, but the 935 could indicate Austria as place of origin. The art deco snake wrap bracelet has been a popular accessory since the 1920s, and Margot de Taxco did a beautiful version. Perhaps you could do a search to look at comparables online. (admin e...

Re: Norwegian Enameled Sølje--Silver or Brass?

That is lovely. I don't think it's silver just from the picture - the translucent red enamel doesn't look quite right for that, based on other pieces I've seen with red enamel. You may be right in suspecting bronze. I don't think silver cleaner would damage enamel at any rate. Nice find!

Re: Georg Jense?

Could you post a picture of the front of the piece? As far as I can tell, the style does not look as old as 1915 - I suspect mid-century Finnish, perhaps.

Re: Gold but silver 1920 tie pin question

Hi Marie,

The tie bar is indeed sterling silver with a gold vermeil wash, but it was made in 1998, not 1920. I do not know who the maker is, though.

Re: ID Danish maker initials JH or HJ, Hardrup?

I can't tell from the picture, but does the brooch have a simple c-clasp or a roll-over safety clasp? A c-clasp would tend to indicate an older piece. Also, is there a guilloche pattern under the enamel? I would have thought that a piece with that kind of image would be older than late 1900s (just s...

Sterling Enamel Norway Pin/Pendant IH or HI?

I know I have seen this mark before, but it was attributed to Ivar Holt, whose mark I thought was an "H" in a circle. Were there really two different makers with the same name spelled differently? I've seen it listed as Ivar Holt, Ivar T. Holth, Holthe, and Ivor Holt. Any idea who made thi...

Bull Jansen & Prydz AS, Oslo - active in the 1920's, and included Hroar Prydz.

I posted the same question about a bracelet I had a while back, same marks. Tosten was very helpful in answering.

830S Skonvirke Men's Set - Help ID Maker?

Hi all, I've had this set for a while and have tried to research the maker's mark, but to no avail. The tie bar and double-sided cufflinks are made of 830 silver with a skonvirke design, which leads me to believe they are of Danish (or possibly Norwegian) origin. The maker's mark appears to be a sty...

Help dating Georg Jensen dress clip

Hi all, I haven't been able to find any info on the simple "GI" mark. The dress clip has a U.S. patent number, 1852188, that dates to 1932. Any ideas? Thanks! http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h110/jritter284/1-28.gif http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h110/jritter284/3-13.gif

Re: Unknown Norway mark?

The mark reads "ND" for Norway Design, as noted by Tosten. Eker pieces would normally have the additional "AGE" mark.

I don't believe German makers used the "S" designation after the silver content mark. It does look like a Norwegian piece to me, but I'm not familiar with that maker's mark (it sounded like it might have been Aksel Holmsen or Marius Hammer based on the description, but the picture does not...

How odd - is the Germany mark on a replacement component? While I do not know the maker of my bracelet, the one thing I am quite certain of is that it is Norwegian.
